Trend Alert: Polka Dot Mania

Polka dots are the number one pattern right now and I am sure it will stay that way all throughout fall. Polka dots are super cute and depeding on the colors, accessories, and other peices can go from girly to edgy in seconds. Take a look at the few polka dot styles some of myfaorite celebs have been rocking.
Lucy Hale and boyfriend
Lucy Hale is a very petite girl so a medium sized polka dots complement her very well. The polka dots pop on a dress since it is an all over peice which means you don't want to add to many bright or large accessories. Don't forget to take a look at Lucy's boyfriend who shows that even men are wearing the polka dot trend!
Singer Cheryl Cole seen wearing polka dot trousers and matching top while arriving to the BBC Radio 1 Studio in London.
Cheryl Cole
Cheryl Cole adds shape to her body by mixing up the regular polka dots with polka hearts, how cute! This look works because she uses two contrasting colors and more spaced out polka dots and hearts so that the eyes won't get too confused. Be careful not to wear all over, microscopic polka dots because they aree not flattering and can cause headaches!

Gwen Stefani
Gwen Stefani looks so chic and unique in these navy blue and white polka dot skinny jeans. Gwen use the pants  as an almost neutral because she is able to pair them with a bright pink jacket without being oerwhelming. Although Gwen is already quite slim, the polka dots still help to smooth and add shape to her legs.

Hae you tried the polka dot trend?

How To Style: The Denim Shirt

Denim shirts, jackets, and tops became a fashion statement just a little while back, but now they are a fashion trend! So for all the fashionistas who have been rocking the denim top since day one, don't stop wearing the denim just because everyone else has started. Find out how to style and revamp the denim top from classic, to casual, to chic.
Annalynne McCord
Make your denim shirt fit the classic put together look by ironing or pressing it to be super crisps. Button the shirt up, but leave a few unbuttoned at the bottom for room to tie the shirt. This looks great with high waisted pants like Annalynne's or just put a camisole or tank top underneath.
Alexa Chung
Throw your denim shirt over your favorite tee or use it as a jacket. This looks super casual, but still fashionable. Alexa Chung's look goes from a very dressed up edgy outfit, to more laid back just by adding the loose denim top.
Ashley Olsen

Get the ultra chic look like Ashley Olsen by buttoning up and tucking in your denim top. A contrast of light and dark denim is a great visual and actually adds shape at the waist. If you want to go extremely chic and fashionable, then try buttoning your top all the way up and placing a chunky necklace right under the collar.

OOTD: Studs and Bows

I am so in love with my new studded combat boots which can be worn folded up or down. I decided to go black and grey with this outfit because I wanted my smile to bring in all the personality and color. As you can see I wore a pair of super skinny grey leggings and a flowy bow shirt. The top is actually out of the little girls section, but we can keep that between me, you, and the blog. Since I can't show any of my midriff at school, I put a very dark black camisole underneath. I didn't wear any make-up, but I did jazz up my hair by adding a big braid across the front, sparkly studded earrings, and my signature Betsey Johnson watch. This is a great outfit choice for my slow transition into fall.

Get The Look: One Side Hair

Rhianna
Cassie Ventura
I don't know about you, but I think Rhianna and Cassie's one side shave is so cool, specially since the other side has such long, luxurious hair. No matter how much I like their hairstyles, I could never put a razors to my hair. Not going to happen, ever! But since I don't want any commitment to this hairstyle, I have found a trick to getting this look by using gel, a brush and comb, and bobby pins or clips.
  1. Begin with hair that is not too clean, you need a little bit of greasiness in your hair for the style to work.
  2. Part your hair in the size that you want your "shaved" section to be and gather the remaining hair into the ponytail holder.
  3. Brush down the loose hair and you can either put tight braids to make the hair lie down or just slick everything back with gel.
  4. Pull the braids or slick hair down and back and secure it with lots of clips and bobby pins that match your hair color.
  5. Release the section of hair from  Step 2 and blend the hair and add volume at the top to contrast it from the "shaved" section.
You can wear this look with waves, curls, or pin straight on the other side, whatever suits you. This look is perfect for girls like me who are not ready to take the risk of a razor!

Tyra Banks
I, like Tyra Banks, have a fie finger forehead along with a curvy backside. Most people would think those to features are features that I would try to cover up, but I don't because I choose to embrace them. Showing off your features shows your confidence, but don't take "showing off" too literally, you should still keep it classy! Keep reading to find out how to show off some of your features.

  • If you love your waist, try a peplum top or high-waisted bottoms.

Outfit Of The Day: Sporty Stripes

This week has  been full of homework and projects, which pribably reflects in the amount of blog posts I posted this week. Sorry guys! All week I've been trying to stay casual, but still cute. This look is just a striped light sweater, super skinny jeans, converse, and a few accessories.
The striped sweater was perfect because all my classrooms are chilly and I wanted to have a sporty look. The super skinny jeans are actually super comfortable and I think they show off the shape of my legs. Since I wanted to lengthen out my legs without wearing heels, I paired my blue jeans with my blue Converse low tops. Matching the color of your shoes to your pants give you extra height!
Although I didn't get a good picture of my accessories, I wore my usual Betsey Johnson watch, a few small gold rings, and my gold ear cuff to spice things up. I wore my hair down and straight only because I felt like I did a top knotch flat iron job, which is rare for me. All together a busy week equals comfty outfits, but they can still be cute!

What do you wear during a busy week?

Fashion 101: Edgy Kristen Stewart

Kristen Stewart always rocks the easy, edgy look from head to toe. Her outfits are very easy to recreate, but do take a certain confidence and attitude to rock because so few people wear such edgy and stylish looks. Key peices to getting the edgy look include a slouchy tee, leather or dark colored skinnies, a wild printed clothing peice, and an oxford like shoe.
For an casual, but edgy look throw on a slouchy tee paired with a pair of dark skinnies or leather pants. Add a blazer or bomber over top to add shape or extra flair to a tee that's on the more plain side. A cute pair of oxfords or sneakers go perfectly with this look and are super comfty.
Just because it's edgy doesn't mean it has to be dark or all black, that would become extremely boring! Add in a wild print of clothing or something with a unique shape to switch things up a bit. Wild and bright colors are attention grabbers and no matter what look or style your going for, they are always good to throw in. A cool geometric shape or cool pattern can also give your body a different look and the eye a great visual.

How do you rock the edgy look?

Healthy Hair: Don't Make These Mistakes!

Jennifer Lopez
No matter your hair type or routine, everyone is bound to make a hair mistake whether they know it or not. Luxurious healthy hair like Jennifer Lopez's comes with careful care, a simple mistake such using too  much product or brushing through wet hair could be the downfall of your hair. Keep reading to find out the hair mistakes that could be preventing you from having healthy hair.
  • Go to sleep with wet hair? Never sleep with wet hair! Wet hair is extremely fragile and every toss and turn in your sleep equals a damaged and broken hair follicle.
  • Stay Balanced! Hair needs the right amount of moisture, keratin, shine, and more. Try a keratin treatment once a month as well as a nice deep condition to keep your hair shiny and smooth. You may need more treatments depending upon your hair's conditions.
  • Go Natural! Don't flat iron or over manipulate your hair too much. Yes it's good to try out different heat styles, but rock your nautral hair in different looks sometimes.
  • Comb, Brush, Detangle! Be sure to comb and brush through your hair at least once per day to keep out the knots and tangles, if you don't they could soon become horrible mats!
  • Use the right shampoo and conditioner! If you have curly hair try a shampoo/conditioner for curly hair and the same for relaxed and straight hair.
  • Loosen your ponytail holder! Too tight ponytail holders and metal clips can break off your hair. Try rubber hair clips and bands and try loosening up your ponytail.
  • Condition your color and chemicals! Any color or chemical treatment can dry out your hair so be sure to condition your hair more than usual.
This list could go on and on, but these are the top mistakes that need to be addressed! If you know any common hair mistakes or hair tips leave them in the comments. Get that healthy hair chicas!

News: Eva Chen

Eva Chen is the beauty and health director of Teen Vogue and she is always answering questions on her Tumblr, Twitter, and YouTube page. She is such an inspiration to me because of the way she broke into the fashion and beauty world and shows that you don't necessarily have to go to college specifically for fashion, but just work really hard for it. Since she is known to answer fan questions, I decided to go to Tumblr ask her if she would take a look at my blog and YouTube channel. The worst she could say was no, but she didn't! Eva Chen said she will check out my blog and follow me on YouTube! I am so happy, it may be a small deal to some, but not for me. I just had to share my news with all my beautiful followers.

Fashion 101: Classic Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift is for always having a classic, chic look. Taylor is the perfect style crush for anyone who wants to get the classic style. All you need is to find your striped shirts, a-line dresses and skirts, flats, and a cute satchel like purse. I'm sure you have a couple pieces in your closet to fit the style, so try it out!

FameFlynet Pictures
Straight leg jeans are a great pant and go with the classic style. You can even add your own flair by picking out colored jeans like red or blue. Tucking in your shirt, a striped shirt at that, will add to your classic look even more. Pull your hair up into a high ponytail or a cute side braid to add fun simplicity to your outfit.
If your not into wear pants, go for an a-line dress or skirt. Pair the skirt or dress with a cute pair of flats or even Converse sneakers for a sportier look. The stripes are not only a nice pattern, but they also are slimming and give you a shape. Don't forget to pull out a nice satchel bag that compliments your outfit without going over the top.

How do you rock the classic look?

Hair 101: Heatless Beach Waves

Blake Lively
Beach waves are a never ending hair trend, but they deserve to be! Beach waves are so versatile, easy, and effortless. Most girls think the only way to achieve beach waves is to pull out the flat iron, but there are heatless waves to create the waves. The heatless version is best for hair that will hold a curl with or without hairspray and won't be in humid weather too long. All you need are hair elastics and a curl enhancing shampoo/conditioner is optional.
  1. Begin by washing and conditioning your hair. A curl enhancing shampoo/conditioner will help to encourage the waves and curls.
  2. Blow dry or air dry your hair until it is anout 85% dry.
  3. Seperate your hair into 2-4 braids and secure them with an elastic. The more you add the tighter your curls will be , less will result in more waves and loose curls.
  4. Wait until your hair is completely dry until you take out your braids.
  5. Take down your braids and finger comb them into the perfect style for you. You may need to spray your hair with a holding spray for the curls and waves to last.

Outfit Of The Day: Cute 'N Casual

It was all about being casual, comfy, but still super cute in this outfit of the day. With lots of quizzes, tests, and science labs you don't want to be to over the top because sadly, it is not always a fashion show. I decided to go with a comfy tee and nice pair of skinny jeans, but of course I had to add my own flair to what seems like an "average" look.
Instead of a plain white tee, I took  dark pink hi-low tee shirt and tucked the front half into my jeans. This shirt is so versatile because you can wear it loose, tie it on the side, or tuck it in! My jeans are light colored and almost have an acid wash look. Not only are my jeans light, but they also have small flower details all over which add major flair! These jeans can be paired with any top because of the colors and fit very snug and comfortable.

I paired the look up with a pair of heavy oxfords, a gold boyfriend watch, a small necklace, and a couple of my favorite rings. I pulled my hair up into a high, big bun and since it was so humid I went with no make-up. My outfit of the day shows that even on the most stressful days when you feel like bumming it, you don't have to! Just take the basics and add your own style and flair.

Confidence Tip: Love What You Love

Miley Cyrus
Miley Cyrus did the big chop! I personally love her new haircut because it totally goes with her edgy, rebel style. However, there is still a lot of backlash mostly because no one saw this new look coming. Miley is showing one of the best confidence tips at the moment because even though tons of people are hating on her new 'do, she stands tall and keeps taking pictures with a big, happy smile. She even released a Twitter statement which basically let everyone know that she doesn't care what they think, it's her hair! No matter what people say about you whether it's to your face or behind your back, stand up for what you love and show how confident you are. If you love it, then nothing else should matter.

What's your confidence tip?

How To Style: Combat Boots

I recently picked up a pair of studded combat boots that be rolled down or pulled all the way up. I know exactly what I want to wear them with, but I still like to go through and see what different bloggers and celebrities paired them with as well. I found a lot of great looks from people such as Kendal and Kylie Jenner, Miley Cyrus, Rihanna, Dakota Fanning, and more! Here are my top picks on how to style combat boots.
Miley Cyrus
Miley Cyrus has been wearing combat boots since she was a young teen! Miley is known for having a rebel edge in all of her outfits and combat boots do just that. She keeps from being too cute and girly with her floral body-con dress by styling it with a pair of loose combat boots. Try doing the same with any super feminine dress or skirt to make it more casual or add edge. An extra perk is that it shows off your gorgeous legs!
Dakota Fanning
Dakota Fanning is showing the chic side of combat boots since she pairs them with printed jeans, a white tee, and a black blazer. This is perfect for a day when you want to look put together, but still want to show your style. You can pair your combat boots with any colored or printed jeans  and tie it in with your top and accessories for a whole new look.
Miley Cyrus
Don't think that combat boots only look good on some people, because they can easily be a casual shoe. Just throw on some jeans and tee like Miley and be ready for a day on the go while still looking cool and stylish! Combat boots are a great shoe for all seasons since they can be worn with shorts, dresses, and jeans. Most combat boots even have the option of being worn all the way up or rolled down, you can even add studs and spikes! It works for any style and fits into every wardrobe.

Health 101: Feed Your Skin

Beyonce at United Nations
Although I have always noticed Beyonce's nice skin, I am now mesmorized by it as I look at this photo of her at the United Nations. Her skin is incredibly smooth and glowing, almost perfect! I know that she probably has on the best concealer and foundation, but there still has to be more. I have decided that maybe the appearance and health of your skin is determined by what you eat. As you may or may not know, I stopped drinking soda six months ago and the amount of break outs that I usually have decreased. Now that I have traded in snacking on various chips and candy for apples and grapes I have also seen improvement in not only my skin but my energy and overall health. I now have the idea that maybe it's not what you put on your skin, but what you feed your skin that makes it look and feel better.
 What do you think?

Hair 101: Modern Side Ponytail

Kat Graham
Kat Graham has definitely updated the side ponytail in this look! The sleek sides add a chic side to the look while the waves in the ponytail give off a fun and young vibe. Pushing some of the hair to the front also adds uniqueness and flirty-ness. All you need to recreate the look is a brush, clips, a ponytail holder, and a curling iron.
  1. Begin by sleeking down all the sides of your hair and brushing it upwards.
  2. As you brush upwards to middle of your head, begin to brush one side sideways.
  3. When you get your hair to the right secure it with a ponytail holder.
  4. If wanted, curl your ponytail and fingercomb to add waves.
  5. Use the clips to secure any loose pieces and clip the front peices in place.

OOTD: First Day Of School

My first day back to school was yesterday and I really wanted a casual summer-y look. I achieved my look by pairing up some floral print capris and a plain white tee. The capris definitely added the personality while the shirt kept it from being too overboard. I paired the look with my pink wedges that match the flowers on my capris and give me a major height boost. My jewelry is kept simple since I am only wearing a statement flower ring, gold watch, and small leaf earrings. If you notcied, I was inspired by Beyonce's hair in her Single Ladies video and tried the half up-half down with a slight tease hairstyle. The outfit was great for a first day back to school, but if your not comfortable with heels, a cute pair of flats would work just as well!

Back To School Confidence

Shay Mitchell
Being confident is very important especially when your going to be making first impressions on your teachers, making new friends, going to a new school or even starting off in college! All you need to do is stand tall, smile, and try greeting people you do and don't know. Coming prepared will also help to make you feel more cofident just because you know that you have everything you need. Having a planner marked with all your important dates and your backpack filled with your supplies will take a load off your back for the entire year! School confidence will come naturally if you maintain a postive attitude with your peers and teachers, stay prepared, and just have fun meeting new people!

What do you do to gain school confidence?

Back To School Bags

Back To School Bags
A backpack is probably the number one essential back to school shopping. As you get higher up in school you will definitely start carrying a heavy load of books and will need a sturdier backpack. However, a sturdy backpack can still be super cute and go with every outfit. I suggest finding a backpack that is mostly one color and has either an extra pop of color or different prints. The grey and pink backpack is good for anyone who wears darker colors or the brown for someone who wears lighter color. A tote bag is perfect for the girl who likes to wear dresses and skirts and doesn't want a backpack ruffling up the outfit.

A twist on the plain ponytail is perfect for a back to school hairstyle and for any other time! Jordin Sparks shows just how versatile a ponytail can be as well as convenient. All the ponytails can be done  on medium to long hair and heat is not required. The first style will look great if you have waves or curls in your hair. All you have to do is pull your hair to the side and pull out a few peices to frame your face. If your not feeling the side do', slick it backwards into a high ponytail and keep the ends wavy. The last ponytail looks gorgeous with dip-dyed or ombre hair. Slick all the hair to the side or the back into a sleek ponytail. Now all you have to do is make a tight braid and secreu it with a ponytail. Ponytail hairstyles are very easy to create and turn out very chic! Try it out for back to school or everyday wear.

Fashion 101: Soft Rebel

Miley Cyrus
Miley Cyrus
Miley Cyrus definitely knows how to rock the "soft meets rebel, but still fashionable" look! Miley always rocks a more feminine outfit, but throws on the edge with her shoes and accessories and also giving her hair a cute messy look. The lace dress she is wearing here seems to be a thrifted vintage dress. The dress is super cute, but just for Miley it could have been taken in and the sleeves could be moved up a bit. A more fitting form for Miley's slim shape would have killed because of her slender curves mixed with the black booties. The long necklace adds an even bigger vintage vibe while the small bracelets and ring make the outfit more casual. This outfit could be rocked for a casual day out or whenever you want to feel a little grunged out while still remaining feminine.
