Fashion 101: Kick Into Fall

Kick Into Fall

Steve Madden leather booties / GUESS stacked heel / High heel shoes / Wanted lace up booties / Sergio Rossi leather boots / Valentino platform booties

The new fall weather feels good but the breeze of the wind is a little cold on my feet which means it is time to put my sandals up until next spring/summer. My new shoewear for fall consists of booties! Booties are basically just short boots and they come in so many styles with different desgins, patterns, and heel length. Booties are for everbody! Booties keep my feet warm and show off my love for patterned and colorful jeans. However I still love my tall equestrian boots, short boots will be my #1 go to for fall weather since it's cold, but not too cold. Above are some booties that are similar to ones I own and some that I just love!
What is your fall go to shoe?

Fashion 101: The Letterman Jacket

Letterman jackets are huge in high school especially in the U.S. and typicaly show off your school and however many varsity sports, clubs, and high academic achievements you've made. However, a girl like me doesn't just want the same letterman jacket everybody else has, I want one that shows my personality with the right color combo and patterns. That's why I am so happy that lettermans are becoming a new trend and being made in all kinds of styles!
Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga keeps it edgy, quirky, and of course different by decking her letterman out in major spikes. I'm guessig Lady Gaga isn't giving out hugs in this jacket! She also adds her nickname, Monster, and a big letter M to personalize it just for her.
Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift uses her letterman for a preppy look especially since she pairs it up with her super cute oxfords. The bright but neutral colors keeps her letterman perfect for any season while not ever looking drab.
Rihanna
Rihanna looks edgy and cute in her letterman which she pairs with dark colors. However the light grey color and pops of bright white help to keep her jacket from looking drab. Rihanna even makes her letterman more cool and unique by adding patches to her mismatch black and white sleeves.

Trend Alert: Rock the Turban

Everytime I look around I see people wearing turbans in beautiuful patterns and colors and in various shapes and styles. Turbans originated in places like the Middle East and Africa as customary headware and now they are being worn as chic fashion head gear. Celebs like Kourtnay Kardashian, Solange Knowles, and June Ambrose are just a few to be seen working the turban into everyday street style, vacay wear, and even special events.
Kourtney Kardashian and boyfriend Scott Disick are seen leaving their hotel in Miami followed by their reality TV crew. Kourtney was wearing a cobalt blue turban in which she tweeted a photo from the car stating "Turban Style. Just chic enough to embarrass @scottdisick".
Kourtney Kardashian
Kourtney Kardashian keeps it simple by wraping a bright blue turban, that matches her outfit perfectly, around her head. A turban in a solid color that does a full wrap around the head is probably the most simple version of a turban that still makes a statement. Not only does her turban work as a fashion statement, but since she's out near the Miami waters it helps to protect her hair from frizz and an overall bad hair day.
Solange Knowles
Solange adds a little more length to her turban so that it wraps up with her hair as well as add a little twist for flair. The black and white pattern of her turban adds to her outfit by giving more of a visual and pop to the look. Don't forget if your wearing a turban you can do more with your beauty look since all your hair is pulled back like Solange's soft smokey eyes.
June Ambrose
Now if your a daring fashionista like June Ambrose you can go the extra mile with your turban look. June kept it basic black, but creates a "turban bun" which takes the place of big earrings and a statement necklace. Youtube has hundreds of turban tying tutorials if you want to style yours like June's or any other style.

Will you be rocking the turban this fall?

Get The Look: Gorgeous Glow, Edgy Ponytail

Demi Lovato Clothes
Demi Lovato
Demi Lovato's beauty looks always involve heavy liner and dramatic lashes, but in this look she switches it up a bit. Demi adds nude glossy lips, a pearly glow, and super sleek high ponytail to the mix. All you need for the look is liner, mascara, nude lipgloss/lipstick, bronzer, foundation, neutral shadows. As for the hair you may need a serum or edge control and a ponytail holder. It may seem like a lot of product, but it is super easy and super gorgeous!
  1. Begin with a clean face and apply concealer if neccessary.
  2. Take a dewy foundation and blend it into your skin for a a slight shine and glowing look.
  3. Apply bronzer to the hollows of your cheeks to your lower temples. Be sure to blend to avoid harsh lines.
  4. Prime your eyelids and apply a light shadow to your brow bone.
  5. Take a medium brown to the crease of your eye in a V-shape all the way down to your lash line.
  6. Apply a liquid liner in a thick line by your lash line. Use a pencil eyeliner to line your bottom lash line.
  7. Apply 3-4 coats of mascara. Use false lashes for a more dramati look like Demi's.
  8. Take a nude lipgloss or lipstick and apply it to your lips to finish off the look.
If you want to go all the way with the look apply a serum or edge control to your hair and brush it up it a high, sleek ponytail. You can even add extensions to your ponytail and a wide ponytail holder to make the look super edgy. This look is great for parties or anytime you want to go all out. Tone down the look for school by using less mascara and liner.

My Favorite Emmy 2012 Gowns

Now I have to be honest I did not watch the Emmy's, but I did watch the red carpet fashion. The top colors of dresses ranged from sea blues, glittering colors, purples, and tangerines. The designs went from fitted forms, to draping, and sexy slits. My top faves were Ginnifer Goodwin, Sofia Vergara, Heidi Klum, and Hayden Panettiere. Ginnifer took an abstract patteren design, while Sofia and Heidi  had their own versions of sexy looks, and Hayden went into complete goddess mode. All the gowns were jaw dropping! Keep scrolling to see my favorite Emmy 2012 gowns.

Love Her Style: Kristen Stewart

Kristen Stewart has been growing on me fashion-wise for the past couple of months. Kristen's style is so edgy and cool all the time, although she knows exactly how to add in hints of soft girliness. My all time favorite looks of Kristen have to be whenever she wears leather pants and especially when she wears printed pants like in the pictures above. The two looks are unexpected, but make her body look great and style cred go up hundreds of points! Kristen's dress style's also amaze me because she always goes for a fitted mini dress with edgy prints and patterns. even though this is love her style, Kristen's beauty look is always simple which shoes her natural beauty and her tousled hair makes her looks even more effortless.

How-To: Protect Your Hair at Night

Miley Cyrus

It's so easy to just throw your hair up into a bun before bed or just not do anything at all. Although it's super easy to do that, it's extremely damaging to your hair. You can experience breakage and tangling all from not treating your hair with some TLC during your sleep hours. Keep reading for some tips on how to protect your hair at night, no matter your hair type:
  • Never go to sleep with wet or damp hair! Let your hair completely dry before even thinking about laying on it.
  • Brush and comb! No matter your hair type you always need to brush or comb your hair to get all the tangles before they come worse throughout the night.
  • Avoid buns at night! Buns and even ponytails are not the best thing for night time because the ponytail holder can break off your hair. Try just loosely braiding it backwards.
  • Wrapping! Wrapping your hair is very popular for relaxed hair types and will keep your hairstyle looking nice and fresh for the next day.
  • Silk pillow! Sleeping on a silk pillow allows your hair to maintains its nutrients and glide smoothly across the pillow unlike cotton or other fabrics.

What I'm Loving

What I'm Loving

I have been loving so many things these past couple weeks and I had to share them with you guys! I feel like I am going through this edgy, quirky, casual, etc. outfit phase that goes with my mood for each day. Wedge booties and combat boots have been on my feet almost every other day. Both pairs are so comfty and can be worn edgy, casual, and even be mixed into a girly style. On my hands and fingers I have been mix and matching gold and silver rings as well as varieties of bracelets. I have even been ecperimenting with the new fall nail polish trends like regal purples and blues. Lastly a new must have for me are boyfriend sweaters mixed with black jeans that are perfect for fall.

Fashion 101: Color Denim Into Fall

So many girls think that just because it's fall they can no longer wear color and that's completely wrong! I personally love wearing color and pattern on the bottom and more neutral colors on top because it is unexpected. So for fall keep out your colored denim and pair them with black blazer, sweaters, cardigans, and don't forget to colorblock!
Hayden Panettiere
Hayden keeps it chic and warm in black combats and a structured blazer. The blazer and boots keep the look fall appropriate while the color makes the look fun. The royal blue pants pop against all the black and is a great addition of color.
Leann Rimes
Adding a sweater, cardigan, or a cool statement will take you colored denim into fall. Of course a sweater type top will keep you warm throughout the chilly days while the colored denim will put the color and warmth back into the entire room

Confidence Booster: Speak Up

Brittney Spears
Confidence comes from so many places and voicing your opinion is one of them.  I can personally tell you that no matter how cute your outfit is, how smart you are, or how friendly you have to speak up for anyone to notice you. For example, Brittney Spears looks so confident on the USA X-Factor when she is telling her opinion and the truth. I'm not saying to become the loudest and craziest person in the room, but instead of letting everyone else have their say or never getting a chance to show what you really want, try speaking up! Speaking up will definitely boost your confidence even if no one takes your advice, but either way your voice will be heard.

Remember fashion and beauty is nothing without a does of confidence

Beauty 101: Eyebrows Center Stage

Victoria Justice

Eyebrows are seriously the center of attention in your face. So instead of repeated waxing and tweezing which could lead to permanent arch shapes, try filling in! Of course you may need to still pluck a few stray hairs, but that is also what concealer is for. Keep reading for some tips on how to fill in your eyebrows perfectly!
  1. Begin by brushing out your brows into their natural arch.
  2. Take a small make-up brush along with an eyeshadow that is similar to your hair color.
  3. Lightly brush the color along the arch line of your brow. Slowly build on as much color as you need.
  4. Dab your brows to loosen up the shadow and color so it is not overly dark and defined.
  5. Brush a brow gel through your brows to keep the hairs in place.
The newly defined brows will make your entire face light up and look ultra fierce!

OOTD: Ombre Down

This ootd was all about mixing summer color with fall basics. Fall is all about skinny jeans and long sleeves, while summer is about trying new trends and wearing lots of bold color. The entire outfit just makes me happy especially my pink ombre jeans and yellow, pink, and gold necklace.
The top is a long denim button down which I of course buttoned up and tucked in. This top has been featured in several of my ootd posts, but this is the first time I have ever worn it this way, it was time for something different. Since the top is just denim, I dressed it up with a beautiful necklace that somehow got stuck underneath my top, my bad! The necklace reminds of a chandelier because it tiers down with yellow and pink mixed with gold in an upside down triangle.

The jeans and shoes are the standout of the outfit. My mom actually got me these pair of jeans from JCPenney and I fell in love with them! They can be worn casually with a t-shirt or casually dressy like my outfit. The jeans add a bold flair and are unique since they are not all over color. The shoes help to lengthen my leg since they are tall and wedges and also because they are pink like the pants. The jeans and the shoes add a fun, bold, and unique flair!

Trend Alert: Stripes in Action

Stripes are always in and represent so many styles. Stripes an be worn in tops, pants, shoes, acessories, and more! The versatility of the pattern gives you so much range on how to reinvent and style new looks!
Jessie J
Jessie J looks slim and bold with this huge stripe patterned skinny jeans. This look can go great with a punch of bright color and super cute shoes. Striped pants can be found at just about any store which mean anyone can recreate or create a new look. Don't forget about other striped bottoms like skirts and shorts!
Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift keeps up with the classic, original verison of medium sized stripes. Although she is staying classic, she does make a statement with the bright red against the white
Miley Cyrus
Miley Cyrus gives stripes a cool modern look just by the type of clothing shes wearing her stripes with. The crop and the thiness of the stripes may not seem like much, but they actually make a difference among the world of bold, big stripes.

Hair 101: Use Less Heat

Rihanna
Rihanna may have super short hair now, but it is still super healthy and chic! Even ladies with short hair have to stay away from the heat to maintain healthy hair. However, staying away from heat is easy to say but can be really hard to do. Blowdryers, flatirons, curling irons, and everyday heat use can be the death of healthy hair and achieving length. Keep reading for some tips on how to use less heat.
  • Air dry! Instead of blowing drying your hair every time it gets wet, try air drying. Air drying may take some time since your hair has to be trainded to dry a specific way by itself.
  • Hooded dryer! If your hair just won't air dry, try a hooded dryer that gives off less direct heat.
  • Pin Curls! Piin curls will make your hair curly without using any  heat. You may need to blowdry your halfway straight to have nice pin curls.
  • Rollers! Depending on the size of the rollers you can achieve volumious straight hair, wavy hair, or curly hair.
  • Styles! After your hair dries, try out hair styles like a topknot, half up half down, a sleek ponytail, anything that suits you!

Trend Alert: Sneaker Wedges

Sneaker wedges are the latest trend in shoe wear and perfectly for the girl who loves heels or wants height while still being casual and comfty. Sneaker weddges come in so many styles and heights, you can go from basic black to a wild cheetah print to match your style or outfit. Don't forget you can even change the shoe laces to go with anything!
Alessandra Ambrosio
Alessandra Ambrosio shows how you can wear the sneaker wedges with a super casual outfit and still look chic and comfortable. The sneaker wedges she is wearing are a sleek black which means they can be worn with casual, chic, sleek, and edgy looks very easily. For the girls who just like the easiness of the shoe, a good bit of sneaker wedges come with just a Velcro strap which means they are very easy to get on and off.
Beyonce

Beyonce is sporting a very similar, if not the same exact pair of sneaker wedges as Alessandra Ambrosio. However, Beyonce shows the edgier side of the show even though she is still looking casual with the addition of her oversized coat. Besides the cute, chic fashion aspects of the show, Beyonce must think the shoes are pretty comfortable for the day. She's carrying around a baby and that gets heavy! As of right now I am all over the sneaker wedge, they are cute, chic, comfortable, and trendy!

Dakota Fanning
Dakota Fanning brings out the more young side of the shoe which is great for teens and young adults like myself. I love that she choose a softer more neutral color, especially since most people go for the darker colors. Like Beyonce, Dakota paired the sneaker wedges with leather pants although Dakota has made the look completely different and ultra chic. The bag and shoes definitely make her outfit.

How are you feeling about the sneaker wedge?

Trend Alert: Fall Nail Colors

Fall is coming faster than you think so it's time to get your nails up to season. This nail polish season bright colors are still in, but in darker shades. A bright blue or purple in a dark hue are perfect for this fall and will even take you into the winter months. I am currently loving Maybelline"s Sapphire Siren for the perfect dark blue polish that stands out while still being subtle. Nude, brown, and grey polishes are also big for fall and work for any lady. A nude polish is also a perfect shade for chipping because it's not as noticeable. Overall regal blues and purples and subtle greys, browns, and nudes are totally in for your nails. Try out brands like Zoya, Loreal, Ciate, O.P.I, Sally Hansen, Maybelline, and more for amazing polishes.

OOTD: Topknot and Flowers

I am so in love with my H&M dress! The dress gives me a girly and edgy feel all in one, plus it makes my legs look great! The dress is an all over colorful floral pattern with hints of black that stand out. This dress is a tad too short for me to wear to school, but it is perfect for any day when you just want to wear a dress.
The dress gives me a bit of an hourglass shape because it is a-line and has very precise seam lines. It also has a body-con type feel because it hugs my body very snug. The only issue is that you need to wear smooth undergarments because they will show through the dress and visible panty lines aren't cool!
I stayed very simple with my accessories because of the busy pattern of my dress so I only wore a very small pair of green earrings, three small rings, and my everyday gold watch. I also wore a black pair of wedge booties that I have fallen in love with, but you can take the look grungey with combat boots. I decided since I really wanted to show of my dress to throw my hair up into a high topknot and no make-up.

*Just to let you guys know, my dress is from H&M for $17.95 and my shoes are from Rack Room Shoes for around $30.00.*
