Prom 2014: The Great Gatsby

My school's 2014 prom theme was "Great Gatsby" so of course I had to embody the glamour of the 20's! I went for a finger wave hairstyle complete with a sparkly hair clip. I also wore long black gloves and a feather clutch to match the train of my dress. Overall, I felt amazingly confident in my dress!

My make-up consisted of a subtle, purple-toned smokey eye done by my mother. My finger wave curls were created with a curling iron and pinned together until it was time to go. My hair and make-up lasted all night solely because of make-up primer and holding spray.
My accessories included a fabulous feather clutch, black gloves, a sparkly hair comb, a necklace, earrings, and a corsage. My corsage had a beautiful purple orchid inside and was decorate with black netting, sparkly ribbon, black feathers, and a bejeweled bracelet.
My prom experience was amazing! I am extremely happy I went because I had so much taking pictures, dancing, and admiring all the gorgeous dresses!
Tell me about your prom experience(s) below!

Beauty 101: Step Up Your Spring Make-Up

Shay Mitchell
Spring is all about fun, bright, girly colors and there is no where better to try out these cutesy colors besides the lips. Lilacs, pinks, reds, and corals are perfect pout colors that will last all the way through the summer season.

Mega lashes and defined brows are major beauty trends this spring and super simple to achieve! Find a great mascara and follow the "T" and "C" method. The method begins by 1-2 coats going up the lashes, then 1-2 sweeps across the top of the lashes. Follow up with a quick coat on the outer lashes in a "C" shape. Define the brows using a shadow and brow brush in short, hair-like strokes.

A soft smokey eye is the perfect spring date look. Simple pink and purple shadows on the lid, blended with a darker brown in the crease, topped off with a highlight shadow in the brown bone will create a quick, easy, and cute smokey eye. Make the look pop by adding on a coat of lipgloss and a swipe of blush.

Summer is not the only bronzer appropriate season! Give your skin a shimmery glow for the spring with a swipe of bronzer on the cheeks and a mix of gold, brown, and nude shadows on the eyes. This look will highlight facial features and make even a simple look super chic.

Trend Alert: Spring 2014 Jewelry

Spring 2014 Jewelry Trends

Spring jewelry trends are all about bright colors, golds, big gems, and quirky twists. Bright colors are perfect to make everyone, including yourself, smile and spice up an outfit. Gold colored jewelry gives a soft touch to any outfit while big gems make an outfit sparkle. My personal favorite spring jewelry trend is the quirky twists. Spring jewelry is introducing bows, cat shaped watches, and lots of other fun shaped jewelry pieces.

Paris Fashion Week 2014 saw all the latest springs trends, from pastels to sneakers, to collard tops. Spring is all about beautiful pastels and soft colors. Patterned and colorful sneakers are now being paired with the "classiet' of outfits, not just workout clothes and jeans. Skater skirts are also a top trend of the spring season, especially when paired with simple heels and lovely peacoats. Now the simplest spring trend, is collars. Whether the collar is sewn into the top or created with the use of a necklace.

What spring trends will you be trying out?

Prom Inspiration: Daring Dakota Fanning

Dakota Fanning Clothes
Nothing is better than a daring, bold girl! Dakota Fanning shows that you can show skin while maintaining an element of class. A little hint of skin will give off a sexy look for prom, however it can be downplayed with simpler hair and make, like Dakota's.

Not all prom dresses have to be strapless! Sleeved dress are definitely unique and more practical f your prom is in the colder months. If you go with a sleeved dress, you don't have to pile on lots of accessories and can leave your beauty look simpler to let your dress do more of the talking.

Dakota Fanning Clothes

I will admit that I do not usually like poofy dresses, however, if they're like Dakota's, I just might. Dakota goes for a plunging neckline and dark sparkles with this dress. It is the definition of dark glam. This look can be accessorized with bracelets, necklaces, anything since there is so much bare skin. The beauty look can even be all out to match the daring dress.

How do you share your daring side?
