2013 Fashion Trends Review

Selena Gomez
A lot of crunches and ab workouts were done this year all because of the crop top. The midriff-baring crop top was seen all year long, no matter the season. Crop tops came in so many renditions, lace, sweater materials, long and short sleeves, even with a turtleneck!
Ashley Madekwe
Peplum tops made their mark by adding curve and shape to every figure! Peplums were seen as tops and featured in skirts and dresses. Peplums were easily dressed up or dressed down as well. Peplums gave even a simple outfit a does of chicness.
Kylie Jenner
Leather is not a new thing. However, the fashion world was accustomed to only seeing it used in motorcycle jackets, boots, and pants. This year, leather was reinvented. 2013 saw leather a-line skirts, abstract skirts, even leather tops! Also, you can't forget about the array of colors leather was seen in throughout the year.

Zendaya
The sporty chic look was also introduced this year. Sweatpants were no longer seen as a sign of fashion defeat, but as a comfy alternative. Sweatpants were paired with heels, preferably sneaker wedges and strappy heels. Sweatpants came in a variety of styles and colors as well as lots of fun graphic tees and sweatshirts to pair with.

2013 saw so many trends, both good and bad, this year. So of course I was not able to list every single fashion moment. However, above were some of my favorite trends of the year. Let me know about yours in the comments below!

OOTD: Print Crazy Peplum

You probably have already figured out that I have a slight obsession with printed pants, but I just can't  help it. I love pairing my printed pants with a solid color up top, but this blue structured peplum top I found for under $10 was even better because of it's unique style. The look has just the amount of color I like to wear without being a neon bright highlighter and paired with my grey sneaker wedges, the print on the pants is toned down.
The back of the peplum top is a deep scoop that shows off the back while still covering up the shoulder blades and bar clasps. The peplum aspect of the top gives me more of a defined waist and shape while the pants fit more like jeggings fitting more snug and comfy on my legs. My sneaker wedges help to emphasize my legs since any type of wedge on a shoe helps to make your legs look longer and leaner.

As for accessories, I wore a couple or small rings, a boyfriend watch, and a ponytail holder just in case I wanted to pull my hair up. The shoes have spike details that stand out against the grey of the shoe and in my opinion work as a major point within my whole look. The pattern on my pants is actually a mixture of grey and white tree branches, leaves, and bird cages with splashes of yellow throughout.

How do you style crazy pattern?

Top Trend Predictions

Leather, peplums, polka dots, side parts, and bolder lip colors are my predicted trends for the winter and pre-spring seasons of 2013. Whether it's fashion or beauty, I love to predict the latest trends and slowly begin to try them out before they "make it big".  Keep on reading below and learn more about my trend predictions.
Kim Kardashian
Leather and peplums are being seen everywhere now. Leather can be incorporated for in so many ways such as tops, shoes, and pants and look amazing. Leather is also very practical for the winter and can work its way into spring as a great leather short or skirt. Peplums create a curvier shape on any body type and can go from long sleeve to short in any fabric and pattern. Kim Kardashian knows how to work it with both leather and peplum in the photo above which gives off a chic look without being too many trends at once.
Cheryl Cole
Polka dots are the latest pants pattern to strike after florals and stripes. Polka dots can be sweet to edgy in a instance and are extremely versatile. From the size of the polka dots, the direction of the dots, and most importantly the color contrasts, polka dots can go with any outfit and make it stand out. Polka dots can easily work with another pattern like how Cheryl Cole pairs dots with hearts and makes it work by the black and white color contrast. Polka dots will work with any piece of clothing, but in skinny jeans it will stand out and make your outfit youthful and fun.
Kristen Stewart
Beauty wise side parts and bold lip colors are taking the red carpet and everyday looks by storm. A deep side part is an easy way to change up your hairstyle without any cutting or dying. A side part starting at the middle of your brow will make your hair cascade on one side beautifully framing your face. You can even add waves, curls, or leave your hair straight with the side part. Bold lip colors will make your face brighten up and look like you spent more time than you actually did on your make-up. Try out a lip color that goes with your skin tone, but venture out by experimenting with lip colors that will work for you.

Fashion 101: The Peplum

Beyonce
Kourtney Kardashian

Emma Stone
Peplum style skirts and dresses are so unique and help form and define curves. I love the peplum style, it reminds me of a bit of a tutu mixed with lots of chic! A peplum is basically just a sort of frill added in the waist section of a skirt of dress. I recommend that for anyone wanting to show off their waist or create a smaller waist to try out a peplum style. Beyonce's peplum begins exactly at the waist and is continued by a pencil bottom.Beyonce's peplum helps to show off her flat abs as well as her small waist because the rest of the dress is tight. Kourtney Kardashian wears her peplum in the style of a mini dress accented by a cute zipper. Just like Beyonce's peplum, Kourtney's begins right at the waist giving her a nice curve and small waist. The color of the dress is lovely and the snake skin clutch is perfect! Emma Stone's peplum is a bit weird since the fabric is bubbled up and sticking outward from her body. However, the color scheme is great! Be sure when purchasing a peplum style that the fabric is not to thick and that it is goin around your body equally. A peplum should be flattering!

Are you trying out the peplum style?
