eShakti Review: Perfectly Houndstooth

I love a dress that fits just right and feels especially made by me and that is what is so special about this houndstooth dress from eShakti. I had one of my closest friends, Rontier (@rontierantasia) to model the dress for me since I ordered the dress too big for myself. The dress is accented by a dramatic flap, a waist hugging strap, and lovely black buttons.
The dress is a beautiful mixture of purple, grey, and black in houndstooth pattern. Houndstooth is going to be making a major impact for spring 2013 and can be seen in any piece from a clutch, flats, dress, skirt, and maybe even a top. The houndstooth pattern of the dress goes perfectly with a pair of black shoes, preferably heels to show off your legs and bring out the details of the buttons.

The unique trait about eShakti is that it allows you to customize your own piece. You can decide the sleeve length, dress or skirt length, anything that will make the piece perfect for you. For this dress, I added some length on the sleeve and shortened the dress to show off some leg while still being classy. Also, you are able to use your measurements, bust, waist, and hips, to make sure the dress will look good on your body shape.

As a very special gift and thank you to my followers, here is a special discount code CTENQRKY42, to get 20% OFF when you shop at eShakti - valid from 02/26/13 thru 03/20/13.

My Top Three Academy Award Gowns

The Oscars 2013 red carpet gowns were a dose of perfections and kept me watching, almost, the entire show. Nude dresses, black and white combos, and of course an occasional hint of color graced the carpet this year's red carpet. However, Amanda Seyfried, Anne Hathaway, and Kelly Rowland topped my personal fave charts and have me dying for a gorgeous gown that I have nowhere to wear it to.
Amanda Seyfried
I've always had a thing for haltered dresses and the way they fit perfectly against the curves of your back and chest. Amanda looks so simple and elegant in this gown and love how it gradually becomes flowy at the bottom with a lovely train. The intricate golden detail keeps the dress from washing her out while the small cut out keeps the dress from covering her up too much. Gorgeous!
Anne Hathaway
At first I wasn't sure if I did or did not like Anne's gown, but after a minute I realized how amazing the simplicity of the look is. Her hair is very casual and looks so great now that it has grown out into a more natural shag with a cool swept bang. Her accessories complement the dress and give the right amount of bling while the dress shows off her body without clinging to it. Once again, Anne Hathaway is a fashion fave!
Kelly Rowland
Last, but not least, is Miss Kelly Rowland in a mermaid style black and white strapless gown. I absolutely love the leg action and how the dress is showing off Kelly's amazing figure. The black and white contrast is like having color because of the pop the combo gives one another. Her hair shows off her face in a sophisticated bun with banging bangs!
*Big congrats to one of my favorite actresses, Jennifer Lawrence, for winning an Oscar!!!*

OOTD: Topknot and Flowers

I am so in love with my H&M dress! The dress gives me a girly and edgy feel all in one, plus it makes my legs look great! The dress is an all over colorful floral pattern with hints of black that stand out. This dress is a tad too short for me to wear to school, but it is perfect for any day when you just want to wear a dress.
The dress gives me a bit of an hourglass shape because it is a-line and has very precise seam lines. It also has a body-con type feel because it hugs my body very snug. The only issue is that you need to wear smooth undergarments because they will show through the dress and visible panty lines aren't cool!
I stayed very simple with my accessories because of the busy pattern of my dress so I only wore a very small pair of green earrings, three small rings, and my everyday gold watch. I also wore a black pair of wedge booties that I have fallen in love with, but you can take the look grungey with combat boots. I decided since I really wanted to show of my dress to throw my hair up into a high topknot and no make-up.

*Just to let you guys know, my dress is from H&M for $17.95 and my shoes are from Rack Room Shoes for around $30.00.*

Fashion 101: Soft Rebel

Miley Cyrus
Miley Cyrus
Miley Cyrus definitely knows how to rock the "soft meets rebel, but still fashionable" look! Miley always rocks a more feminine outfit, but throws on the edge with her shoes and accessories and also giving her hair a cute messy look. The lace dress she is wearing here seems to be a thrifted vintage dress. The dress is super cute, but just for Miley it could have been taken in and the sleeves could be moved up a bit. A more fitting form for Miley's slim shape would have killed because of her slender curves mixed with the black booties. The long necklace adds an even bigger vintage vibe while the small bracelets and ring make the outfit more casual. This outfit could be rocked for a casual day out or whenever you want to feel a little grunged out while still remaining feminine.

Must Have Friday: Everyday Dresses

Must Have: Everyday Dresses

I don't know about you, but I love to rock a dress every once in a while just to feel fun and girly. However, some dresses are too much for just a casual day so you have to know which fabric and style to get. The perfect everyday is usually made of a light cotton fabric, but there are exceptations such as a silk, the dress is also a bit simple meaning there's not too much glitter or sparkle. The accessories you pair with the dress can also determine the "everyday wear" factor so keep it a bit minimal by pairing it with small rings, bracelets, and earrings. The shoes can still be heels or tennis shoes, whatever is appropriate to you.
How do you rock your everyday dresses?

Fashion 101: The Peplum

Beyonce
Kourtney Kardashian

Emma Stone
Peplum style skirts and dresses are so unique and help form and define curves. I love the peplum style, it reminds me of a bit of a tutu mixed with lots of chic! A peplum is basically just a sort of frill added in the waist section of a skirt of dress. I recommend that for anyone wanting to show off their waist or create a smaller waist to try out a peplum style. Beyonce's peplum begins exactly at the waist and is continued by a pencil bottom.Beyonce's peplum helps to show off her flat abs as well as her small waist because the rest of the dress is tight. Kourtney Kardashian wears her peplum in the style of a mini dress accented by a cute zipper. Just like Beyonce's peplum, Kourtney's begins right at the waist giving her a nice curve and small waist. The color of the dress is lovely and the snake skin clutch is perfect! Emma Stone's peplum is a bit weird since the fabric is bubbled up and sticking outward from her body. However, the color scheme is great! Be sure when purchasing a peplum style that the fabric is not to thick and that it is goin around your body equally. A peplum should be flattering!

Are you trying out the peplum style?

Outfit Of The Day: Modern Mod

Today's outfit of the day showcases a new mod style dress that I absolutely love. The dress came from Marshall's and is super comfortable and makes me feel great. The dress gives me a mod feel and even reminds me of dresses that Twiggy wore in her modeling days. I paired the dress with minimal accessories because I wanted to let the dress stand out, especially the black sides which give me more of an hourglass shape. I did wear a cute pair of oxfords with my dress, but I love going barefoot which explains why my feet are cutoff in the pictures. My beauty look consists of no make-up, but I did try out a new curly hairstyle which I pinned to the side. I love it for spring!

Jennifer Lopez knows how to rock a mini dress and does it with color! Neons and pastels are in for spring as well as the mini dress and body-con silhouette. Look #1 is very trendy because it is a leather dress and even features a bit of nude colorblocking. Jennifer's strappy heels help lengthen out her legs and the gold bracelets go great with her skin tone. The shades and white clutch are perfect accessories because they don't do too much. Look #2 is simple, but still bright and cheery. The neon green dress paired with hot pink heels work together since they are the only two bright colors in the outfit. The long sleeves are perfect for spring because it keeps you warm when the weather gets windy. Jennifer accessorizes with silver jewelry and wavy hair.

Love Her Style: Taylor Swift

Look #1
Look #2
Taylor Swift is the perfect girly girl and has the style to match. Taylor always has a feminine touches to her outfits and even throws in hints of edgy and vintage. She knows what works for her shape and has learned the power of pairing a belt around the waist to create curves. Look #1 is very casual and is a great girly look for school. I love her use of color and pattern in her shirt, flats, and bag. Her hair is very cute and also gives off a little indie vibe because of the headband. Look #2 is perfect for a date or a semi-formal  event. The dress is a mixture of girly and vintage and the lace adds a touch of sexy. Taylor's shows are lovely and the red lipstick and pinned hair give off an old school vibe.

Get The Look: Polka Dots For Prom

Emma Stone
Emma Stone looks absolutely gorgeous in this dress at the premier of the movie, The Help. Emma Stone was an amazing actress in the movie which called for an equally amazing dress. A dress like this is perfect for quirky girls or anyone who wants to try something different. The polka dots are a unique touch as well as the shoulder cut outs and the criss-cross going across the chest. It's great because the small chest cut out stays appropriate for prom because it does not show too much. The small belt around the waist prevents the dress from becoming to loose and baggy and instead defines the waist. The look calls for very minimal accessories because of the heavy print so stick to small earrings. Emma's red lips go perfectly with this dress and the waves in her hair give off an old Hollywood flair. I am really liking this look for prom or any other special occasion, it's always great to try something unique and different. Try it out chicas!
