Hair 101: Braided Bun

Nicole Richie
Summer is a time to get your hair out of your face, try out new hairstyles, and transform your hair to being healthier.Nicole Richie always sports the cutest hairdos and I am especially loving this braided style that goes back into a sidebun. It so easy to recreate especially on a bad hair and all you need are bobby pins, a comb or brush, and a ponytail holder.
  1. Begin by detangling your hair and  all to one side.
  2. Make a thick french braid on the side of your head close to your edges going to the ends of your hair. Be sure to braid loosely.
  3. Take your hair and swirl it into a loose, messy bun at the back of your head. Secure with bobby pins.
  4. Create a more messy look by playing with the bun and the braid. A carefree look is perfect for summer.
French Braiding Quick Tips
The best way to french braid is to take three medium sized peices of hair and cross them over each other in equal amounts of time. Add in an extra piece of hair to the original three sections to make the braid into a french braid.

Remember practice makes perfect and to be patient when trying new hairstyles. Rock this look for a carefree and fun vibe, even on the worst hair day!

Hair 101: The Fishtail Braid

Leona Lewis

Nicole Scherzinger
The fishtail braid is a little bbit of an old trend, but is still being rocked by celebs and everyday girls. I have finally grown my hair out long enough to begin experimenting with lots of different hairstyle and I have fallen in love with t he fishtail braid. The fishtail braid is perfect because it looks good wether its sleek or messy, gets the hair off your face, and looks super unique, but is actually easy and quick to create! Leona Lewis creats a messy, laidback fishtail look while Nicole transform the normal high ponytail into a high fishtail. Fishtail braid your own hair by following the steps below, all you need is a brush, a ponytail holder, a rubber band and bobby pins.
  1. Begin my brushing your hair back or to the side, depending on where you would like your fishtail to lay, and secure with a ponytail holder.
  2. Seperate two sections of hair within your ponytail.
  3. Pull out a medium/small peice of hair from one of  your sections and cross it over to the opposite section. Repeat with the other section.
  4. Continue to do Step 3 until you have fishtailed as much hair as you would like.
  5. Secure the end with a ponytail holder or a rubber band and place bobby pins wherever necessary.
If any peices of hair fall out while your fishtailing your hair just push them back into the braid and spray them with hairspray. Remember to be patient and practice makes perfect to get the best looking hairstyle. Try out the fishtail braid and even wear it to the side or as a low ponytail, whatever works for you!

The milkmaid braid is a trending hairstyle and works with medium to long hair. It is perfect for a bad hair day, a casual day, or even a night out! The only tools needed are a few ponytail holders, bobby pins, a brush, a comb, hairspray/ serum, and a curling//flat iron is optional. How do you feel about the milkmaid braid?
  1. Begin with day old hair so the braids will hold. Comb/brush out any tangles in the hair.
  2. Part your hair two sections and loosely braid the hair creating pigtails. Secure each braid with a ponytail holder.
  3. If you would like the braid to look looser, tug and expand the braid as desired.
  4. Pull one of the braids across your head and secure it with a bobby pin. Do the same with the other braid.
  5. For a smoother look, lightly brush the front back. For a messy look pull out your bangs and use a curling iron to create waves.
  6. Use hairspray to keep the look in place and serum to take care of unnecessary frizz.

Hair 101: Roughed Up Side Braid

Amanda Seyfried is a true natural beauty and a fantastic actress. Amanda's hairstyle in the photograph is just gorgeous and perfect for girls with longer hair. It will even turn out better when the hair is very thick. This hairstyle is perfect after a day of wear curly or wavy hair that you aren't ready to wash away.
  1. Start with hair that has not been washed for about a day or two.
  2. If you wish to have waves in the braid, curl big sections in the hair. It does not have to be perfect so don't stress if some curls are not the best.
  3. Brush all your hair smooth onto one side. Loosely secure the hair with a ponytail holder.
  4. Begin braiding your hair and secure the bottom with a ponytail holder. Take off the first ponytail holder once the braid is finsihed
  5. Start pulling some of the hair to loosen up th braid and make it expand bigger. Almost like teasing the hair, but with your fingers.
  6. Let some pieces hang loose and frame your face. Spray the hair with hairspray if needed.
Now the hairstyle is complete! If it does not come out as you wish the first time, keep practicing or change the steps to fit you. Rock the roughed up side braid chicas.
