Hair 101: Heatless Beach Waves

Blake Lively
Beach waves are a never ending hair trend, but they deserve to be! Beach waves are so versatile, easy, and effortless. Most girls think the only way to achieve beach waves is to pull out the flat iron, but there are heatless waves to create the waves. The heatless version is best for hair that will hold a curl with or without hairspray and won't be in humid weather too long. All you need are hair elastics and a curl enhancing shampoo/conditioner is optional.
  1. Begin by washing and conditioning your hair. A curl enhancing shampoo/conditioner will help to encourage the waves and curls.
  2. Blow dry or air dry your hair until it is anout 85% dry.
  3. Seperate your hair into 2-4 braids and secure them with an elastic. The more you add the tighter your curls will be , less will result in more waves and loose curls.
  4. Wait until your hair is completely dry until you take out your braids.
  5. Take down your braids and finger comb them into the perfect style for you. You may need to spray your hair with a holding spray for the curls and waves to last.

Hair 101: Marilyn Monroe Curls

Marilyn Monroe
Marilyn Monroe's hair was always perfectly coiled into big, bouncy curls that look super soft. Of course they did not have a million flat iron and curling iron options back in Marilyn's day so the next best thing was the roller set which is actually much better for the hair compared to a hot tool. However in this time when a roller set is mentioned a person's brain immediately thinks of a poodle-like hairdo or an old lady, but there are lots of ways to prevent that from happening. Learn how to get beautifully curls with lots of body and bounce just like Marilyn's with these tips!
  • Don't use too small rollers! Large or medium size rollers work best for creating looser curls.
  • Never use a brush or comb on the curls, finger combing is best so that frizz is prevented.
  • Make the rollers go a little sideways to prevent all the curls from flipping under and/or upwards.
  • Make sure you wait for the hair to cool off before removing the hair rollers.
  • Let the curls fall on their own a bit before using in hairspray or lots of finger combing.
One of the newer roller set kits I have seen would have to be the Conair Xtreme Instant Heat™ . I have never used the product personally and I am not sponsored or affiliated by Conair, but I can say I have see many videos of people using the product and lots of positive reviews. These hot rollers are for girls on the go which is pretty much every girl.

Prom Beauty Look: Selena Gomez

Selena Gomez
Selena Gomez's hair and make-up is perfect for prom or any other special occasion look. The look is a bit less formal than normal , but it will help tone down an over the top dress. Selena Gomez's curls can be recreated by taking a medium or large curling iron and wrapping your hair around it. Since prom and special occasions may last for long amounts of hours you may want to have the curls start off much tighter and use more hairspray. The make-up look is very natural except for a pop of blue shadow right along the lash line paired with black liner and mascara. Selena's nude lips and dewy skin prevent the make-up look from being too much and only focuses on one feature.  This prom beauty look will work best with a short dress or a dress that involves lots of pattern or sparkly. Try it out ladies!
