Hair 101: Heatless Beach Waves

Blake Lively
Beach waves are a never ending hair trend, but they deserve to be! Beach waves are so versatile, easy, and effortless. Most girls think the only way to achieve beach waves is to pull out the flat iron, but there are heatless waves to create the waves. The heatless version is best for hair that will hold a curl with or without hairspray and won't be in humid weather too long. All you need are hair elastics and a curl enhancing shampoo/conditioner is optional.
  1. Begin by washing and conditioning your hair. A curl enhancing shampoo/conditioner will help to encourage the waves and curls.
  2. Blow dry or air dry your hair until it is anout 85% dry.
  3. Seperate your hair into 2-4 braids and secure them with an elastic. The more you add the tighter your curls will be , less will result in more waves and loose curls.
  4. Wait until your hair is completely dry until you take out your braids.
  5. Take down your braids and finger comb them into the perfect style for you. You may need to spray your hair with a holding spray for the curls and waves to last.

Hair 101: The Wand

Isabelle Fuhrman
"The Wand" is becoming a popular hair untensil amongst tons of medium to long haired girls. Isabelle Furhman, pictured above, from the Hunger games is sporting a hairstyle that only a wand could accomplish. I love how her has very consructed coils while the hair is still loose and natural. The carefree wave look is becoming very "in" for spring/summer 2012.   The wand is basically a just a curling iron with no clamp that is bigger at the bottom and becomes smaller as it gets closer to the tip. The wand creates a spiral curl that is much looser than a normal curling iron and gives off more of a carefree wave. The wand comes in many different brands such as the one pictured below, although they may not all go by the name, The Wand.
Have you ever tried the Wand or a similar curling iron? How do you like the curls?

Hair 101: Victoria's Secret Waves

Victoria's Secret Models

Everybody knows about Victoria's Secret signature waves that each model rocks down the runway and in print. Their hair is always sexy, casual, and cool all in one! Any girl would love to have the big, flowly hair and feel like a model. The hairstyle can work on medium to long hair and can actually be achieved in a couple of different ways.
  • Pin Curls
Pin curl day old hair (hair that has not been washed) and secure it with a wrap. You can sleep in the pi curls or wait around for a couple hours. Afterward take out your pin curls and finger comb your hair. Use a curling iron on any fly away hairs.
  • Hair In A Bun
If your already a curly or wavy haired girl this trick may work for you. After washing your hair, comb out your tangles and put your hair in a bun. Wrap your bun very tight and wait a couple hours while also letting your hair dry. Afterwards take out your bun and release all your waves. If all your hair is not dry, use a blowdryer.
  • Pigtails
Pigtails make any hair type become wavy. After you have washed your hair, or even use dry hair, section of your hair and braid it. The more braids you add the more waves and curls your hair will have. Make sure to either let your hair air dry or use a blowdryer. You will have instant gorgeous waves.
  • Barrel Curling Iron
Begin by having dry hair that is completley combed off. Section off parts of your hair and begin wrapping your hair around a curing. By just wrapping the hair around, you will not create overly defined curls. Use hairspray as neccessary.

Be sure to have patience and practice. You may even need to modify the steps to fit your hair type. And remember the tips, tricks are ot very specific so just ask if you need more info! Try out the look chicas.
