Style 101: Rock Those Shades

Katy Perry Sunglasses
Katy Perry
Katy Perry is rocking a classic, square frame of sunglasses, perfect for any face shape. These shades work for all face shapes because the square shape frames the eyes leaving out the eyebrows which help to frame the overall face. The shades can be found on both the high-end and low-end and come in an array of colors.
Rihanna Sunglasses

For a more retro look, try a cat-eye frame similar to Rihanna's sunglasses. Of course, the frames do not have to be as oversized as Rihanna's, but the cat-eye frame helps to add some dramatics to any look. In order to successfully rock a cat-eye frame, be sure to exude confidence in your style and look.
Gwen Stefani Sunglasses

As a fashionista, circular sunglass frames are a known trend. The circular frames give me an eighties cool kid vibe and work with edgy, girly, and even boho styles. And, as you can see above, Gwen Stefani rocks these shades perfectly with a matte red lip and plaid button down.

What are your favorite sunglass frames?

Love Her Style: Katy Perry Print Obsession

Katy Perry has always caught my eye from her catchy music, crazy hair color, and of course her quirky style. Lately I have been noticing Katy wearing lots of crazy prints that look super cute and wearable for everyday. Below are my top three favorite print-tastic looks from Katy and why I love them.
Who would think a skirt with man with mustaches could be so chic? The silhouette of this outfit is just so cute and perfect for spring and summer days. The print is so unique and fashionable which creates interest in the look. The visual interest in this look is what draws me in because it goes above and beyond everyday cheetah and zebra prints while still being wearable for everyday. I am also loving Katy's long flowing hair, gorgeous!

The print does so much for this chic a-line dress. This dress is perfect for a formal occasion, especially if you still want to look young, current, and fun. The lace sleeves help the dress to be a little more conservative while still showing a tad bit of skin while the blue sheer flowers add a girly cuteness to the look. Katy's shade add a fun factor to the look while her shoes go great with the grey/white under part of her dress.
This look is great for music festivals and causal weekends in the spring. I love her use of texture and pattern in this look as well as her vintage booties paired with peekaboo socks. The top is very boho with the flowiness and small flowers while the crotchet skirt gives off more of a vintage boho vibe. The belt makes sure that Katy's waist is not lost in the look while her side braid keeps the look simple and the hat adds a fashion edge and sun protection to the look.
How do you incorporate print into your looks?

Fashion Faves: Kid's Choice Awards 2013

Hopefully I am not too late on posting my fashion faves from this year's Nickelodeon Kid's Choice Awards. I have always loved the KCAs because they're never serious and more focused on the live singing, seeing your favorite celebs, and of course the great green slime. On the purple carpet leading into the KCAs were the young stars and starlets all dressed in bright warm weather clothing that looked amazing. I loved that no one went all out in full gowns, but instead went for a more casual dressy looks that can easily be recreated into looks for the everyday fashionista. Keep on reading to find out my fashion fave picks!

Willow Smith
Willow is starting to get it right with her mix of girly and grunge paired with her spiked up hair style. I like that she didn't lose her own style by going to sweet with the white dress and denim jacket by lacing up some combat boots with peeping yellow socks and strappy bracelets. Willow shows that combat boots definitely work with any style, look, and occasion.
Zendaya
Zendaya is always looking good at events which is why she is on my fashion faves list. The girly chicness of this look is perfect and will be great for spring (dates, Easter, etc.) The sparkly peter pan collar gives a little hint of glam and acts as an accessory to the look with the strappy sky high heels add a bit of sexy. The skirt allows the outfit to have some color and not be washed out by the light grey sweater. The flowiness of each piece gives her a look of ease and effortlessness which is always an A+ in my book.

Katy Perry
Katy Perry midriff looks spring break ready in the stomach baring piece. Katy's outfit is similar to the look she wore to last year's KCAs because of he style, but this geometric artsy print takes it to another level. The fit on the skirt and top give her an hourglass frame while not letting her goodies be put on full display. The length of the skirt helps to make sure she isn't showing too much while the black heels are making sure not to take away from her outfit. Overall, Katy is working the print and showing off an amazing body and cute haircut.

Selena Gomez
All I can say about Selena Gomez is that she looks absolutely perfect! The shoes are so dainty and girly while still standing out. The white shorts are the perfect length and make her legs look miles long. The frilly peplum top gives a whole new meaning to the peplum top trend because of the beautiful baby blue color and texture of the materrial. Selena is giving off a girly and feminine spring look that is great for the warm weather and still presentable for a more dressy casual occasion.
Fifth Harmony
Fifth Harmony is just so cute, I love their use of sparkles, sequins, and glam! It's usually very hard for group members to showcase their own style while still fitting within the overall group look, but each girl in Fifth Harmony obviously has their own style personality. I can easily spot out the girly girl, the sexy chic, the rocker, classic, and chic style from the amazing outfits worn by the ladies of Fifth Harmony.

Spring Beauty Trends: Pastel Eyes, Matte Lip

Spring is bringing back all the color into your beauty look. A bright matte lip and pastel colored lids are the ultimate trend for Spring 2013 whether you're rocking them at the same time or seperately. A splash of color brightens up your entire face and an instant vibe of youthfulness. However, there are a few things to beware of such as color overload and finding your specific color. Below are two lovely ladies, Solange and Katy Perry, who both know how to rock the latest Spring beauty trends.
Solange Knowles
Matte lips are a great alternative to glossy lips. The matte lets the color shine through without taking over your entire beauty look. Using a matte lip color allows you to still add a blush and eyeshadow without overpowering your face. Be sure to find a lip color that goes with your skin tone by swatching and asking to try out colors. Also, to prevent a matte lip color from drying out your lips make sure you apply a moisturizing chapstick first.

Katy Perry

Pastels come in such a variety of colors and shades that allow you to have an entire pallete of pastel eye shadows. Just like any other shadow, you can do so many different looks such as a smokey eye which makes pastel shadows very versatile. Pastel shadows are especially pretty when used as a liner because it can easily make your eyes stand out and pop.

Get The Look: Daytime Edge

Katy Perry Katy Perry attends the Yves Saint-Laurent Ready-To-Wear Fall/Winter 2012 show as part of Paris Fashion Week on March 5, 2012 in Paris, France.
Katy Perry
So many people are afraid of adding edge to their beauty looks for the day because they think it may be "too much", but trust me, it won't! All you need is the perfect balance of an everyday hairstyle, the righth amount of liner/mascara, and the right lip color. I especially love Katy Perry's edgy beauty look is a great day to night look because you can easily add on and take off to perfect the look for the occassion. All you need to recreate this look is a brush, a ponytail holder, and bobby pins for the hair and a bold or nude lipstick, mascara, liner, and darker toned eye shadows.
  1. Begin by brushing all your hair up into a high ponytail secured by a ponytail holder.
  2. Create any type of bun you would like. A topknot can be made by wrapping your hair tightly in circles and securing with bobby pins or a big ballerina bun by using the sock bun method.
  3. Now start with a clean face and apply any foundation and concealer if needed.
  4. Add a primer to your lids and a apply a highlight color right on your brow bone. Then apply a dark grey smokey color to your lower lids up into the crease. Be sure to blend!
  5. Apply black liner to your lashline and smudge lightly with an eyeliner brush or your fingers. Apply liner to your tightline and smudge a bit of the eyeshadow onto the bottom for a more nighttime look.
  6. Add a little drama to your brows by filling them in with a bit of eyeshadow. Brush your eyebrows afterwards so it won't be too harsh.
  7. Apply a primer to your lips and apply a nude color to keep the look daytime and swap the nude out for a bold color such as red for a night look.
Do not ever be afraid to try out an edgy beauty look for the day, yes it will stand out, but it will definitely be in a good week! Try making the look more you by adding or taking away any of the steps. Let me know in the comments below if you try out the look!

Billboard Awards Beauty and Fashion

Miley Cyrus
Carrie Underwoods

Jordin Sparks
Katy Perry
Zooey Deschanel
Now the Billboard Awards are definitely more casual than most awards shows and holds a room full of young and hip stars. The outfits for the Billboard Awards go from princess gowns to funky tights and sneakers. Personally I love watching the award show's red carpet to discover new party styles, popular color schemes, and gorgeous beauty looks. Miley Cyrus was very revealing at the award show, but her beauty look was even more striking! I love the tousled hair, thick eyebrows, long lashes, and glossy lips, very Marilyn Monroe-esque. Carrie Underwood went total princess decked out in jewels and lots of pinks and purples. Carrie's look is a complete dream fit with magical wavy hair. Jordin Sparks' look is my favorite from head to toe. The lace dress is trendy while still be dressy and casual at the same time as well as her cute side pony and accessories. Katy Perry and Zooey Deschanel's outfits were not on my top list, but I love their use of glitz and glam while still keeping a low key vibe. They are definitely trendsetting with the light, diamond colors and sparkling shimmer and glitter.

Fashion 101: The Kid's Choice Awards 2012

Katy Perry
Selena Gomez
Miranda Cosgrove
Emma Stone

The Kid's Choice Awards aired last night and altough I did not watch the entire show, I did see some trending outfits. As the stars walked down the orange carpet, I noticed similar styles such as the midriff baring Katy Perry and Selena Gomez and the soft leather dresses worn by Emma Stone and Miranda Cosgrove. Katy Perry kept with the neon trend, all the peices of her outfit can definietly be made into an everyday outfit. Selena Gomez sticks to a girly theme throughtout her outfit by wearing soft pinks and silver and a cocktail ring. Miranda Cosgrove keeps it edgy, but still spring in a bright blue leather dress and black booties. Emma Stone has a sweet, romantic look by wearing a neutral colored leather dress and tan wedges. Her blonde, wavy hair adds more sweetness to the look. Although their were no showstopping dresses, I did see many styles that can work for everyday and are still super cute.

Which outfit(s) are you loving?

Katy Perry is known for having gorgeous eye make-up and magical eyelashes. Almost every girl dreams of their eyes looking as fabulous, but with liquid eyeliner, falsies, and some shimmer you can have it!
  1. Start off by priming all around your eyes so the eyeshadow has lots of pigment and stays on throughout the day.
  2. Brush your eyebrows and even fill them even with an eyebrow pencil by drawing with short strokes. The eyebrows help give the eyes lots of impact in this look.
