Beauty 101: Avoid a Spring Make-Up Meltdown

Make-Up Meltdown

Along with the warm temps of spring comes lots of pollen and allergies. Pollen and allergies mean a lot of watering eyes resulting in a make-up meltdown! However, transitioning your make-up for a simple, every day spring look is the easiest fix! Below are three tips and tricks on how to avoid a spring make-up meltdown.

  1. Instead of focusing on the eye make-up which will easily melt off, create a bold lip. A bold lip can pull together an entire beauty look and make it stand out. Since the temperatures are continuously warming up, be sure to use a lip balm to protect lips from getting sunburned before applying lipstick and lipgloss.
  2. Defined brows are just as bold as lipstick. Bold brows can frame your face giving off a fierce, clean, and fresh faced look. So, put down those tweezers, unless plucking stray hairs, and use shadow and eyebrow pencils to create a nice eyebrow shape.
  3. In order to still make your eyes pop, try a water-proof mascara paired with a smudgier eyeliner. Before applying mascara, use a eyelash curler to define the lashes and keep them out of eyes. Also, utilize a lighter foundation with sunscreen to protect skin.

Fashion 101: Spring Footwear

Spring Footwear

Springtime is all about the shoe! However, it can get pretty repetitive if you only wear the same pair of strappy sandals everyday. So, swap your sandals for printed flats and wedges, colorful heels, and cutout booties. Printed flats are perfect for pairing with a casual outfit because they can pull the look together and keep up with comfort. Wedges will make any girls legs appear lean and long, so they look perfect paired with dresses, skirts, and jeans. Colorful heels are great to pair with a more dressed up, formal look because they add a great pop of color. Cutout booties help to keep in mind that spring can still have its chilly days and we need something to keep our feet warm.

Beauty 101: Step Up Your Spring Make-Up

Shay Mitchell
Spring is all about fun, bright, girly colors and there is no where better to try out these cutesy colors besides the lips. Lilacs, pinks, reds, and corals are perfect pout colors that will last all the way through the summer season.

Mega lashes and defined brows are major beauty trends this spring and super simple to achieve! Find a great mascara and follow the "T" and "C" method. The method begins by 1-2 coats going up the lashes, then 1-2 sweeps across the top of the lashes. Follow up with a quick coat on the outer lashes in a "C" shape. Define the brows using a shadow and brow brush in short, hair-like strokes.

A soft smokey eye is the perfect spring date look. Simple pink and purple shadows on the lid, blended with a darker brown in the crease, topped off with a highlight shadow in the brown bone will create a quick, easy, and cute smokey eye. Make the look pop by adding on a coat of lipgloss and a swipe of blush.
Kat Graham
Summer is not the only bronzer appropriate season! Give your skin a shimmery glow for the spring with a swipe of bronzer on the cheeks and a mix of gold, brown, and nude shadows on the eyes. This look will highlight facial features and make even a simple look super chic.

Trend Alert: Spring 2014 Jewelry

Spring 2014 Jewelry Trends

Spring jewelry trends are all about bright colors, golds, big gems, and quirky twists. Bright colors are perfect to make everyone, including yourself, smile and spice up an outfit. Gold colored jewelry gives a soft touch to any outfit while big gems make an outfit sparkle. My personal favorite spring jewelry trend is the quirky twists. Spring jewelry is introducing bows, cat shaped watches, and lots of other fun shaped jewelry pieces.

Paris Fashion Week 2014 saw all the latest springs trends, from pastels to sneakers, to collard tops. Spring is all about beautiful pastels and soft colors. Patterned and colorful sneakers are now being paired with the "classiet' of outfits, not just workout clothes and jeans. Skater skirts are also a top trend of the spring season, especially when paired with simple heels and lovely peacoats. Now the simplest spring trend, is collars. Whether the collar is sewn into the top or created with the use of a necklace.

Hair 101: Decorate Your Braid

Whether you're rocking a fish tail braid, french braid, or even a loose ponytail it always looks good to add a little flair to your hair. This spring and summer it is all about intertwining ribbons, colorful bobby pins, and fun clips into your hair, especially with braid hairstyles. Below are two of my favorite decorated hair looks both sported by Bella Thorne. The hair accessories add so much personality, playfulness, and fun to her overall beauty look without even trying!

All you need for this look is to find colorful ribbons and strings then hold them in a section with your hair and begin braiding as normal. It looks best when the color is a neon or pretty pastel that pops against your natural hair color or matches with your outfit. The ribbon doesn't even have to match your actual hair length, just long enough to be secured in the elastic band.

This hair look is super easy! All you have to do is add fun hair clips throughout your hairstyle wherever you want. You can even learn how to make your own variety of hair clips to go with any look.

Love Her Style: Katy Perry Print Obsession

Katy Perry has always caught my eye from her catchy music, crazy hair color, and of course her quirky style. Lately I have been noticing Katy wearing lots of crazy prints that look super cute and wearable for everyday. Below are my top three favorite print-tastic looks from Katy and why I love them.
Who would think a skirt with man with mustaches could be so chic? The silhouette of this outfit is just so cute and perfect for spring and summer days. The print is so unique and fashionable which creates interest in the look. The visual interest in this look is what draws me in because it goes above and beyond everyday cheetah and zebra prints while still being wearable for everyday. I am also loving Katy's long flowing hair, gorgeous!

The print does so much for this chic a-line dress. This dress is perfect for a formal occasion, especially if you still want to look young, current, and fun. The lace sleeves help the dress to be a little more conservative while still showing a tad bit of skin while the blue sheer flowers add a girly cuteness to the look. Katy's shade add a fun factor to the look while her shoes go great with the grey/white under part of her dress.
This look is great for music festivals and causal weekends in the spring. I love her use of texture and pattern in this look as well as her vintage booties paired with peekaboo socks. The top is very boho with the flowiness and small flowers while the crotchet skirt gives off more of a vintage boho vibe. The belt makes sure that Katy's waist is not lost in the look while her side braid keeps the look simple and the hat adds a fashion edge and sun protection to the look.

Trend 101: All Black at the White Shows

All Black at the White Shows
Spring 2013 is all about stand out prints and colors which is why black and white outfit combos are becoming a major trend. The color contrast between white and black is major and can be seen in so many different styles, prints, and pieces that it's almost impossible not to fall in love with the trend. My favorite way of rocking this trend is through stripes or a graphic tee. Black and white stripes can look very feminine and classy, but still be turned edgy and chic in seconds while a graphic tee will always keep you comfty and casual. Not only that, but a black and white outfit combo is perfect to pair with bold colored accesories, purse, and shoes! So many options are included with this trend which makes it a must to try out.
