DIY Nails: Bright and Fun Colorblock

I decided to enter the Sally Hansen nail design competition and the theme for this month's nails was colorblock! I decided to make my colorblock original by using three of my favorite colors paired with a strong white to break them up. You can even vote for my nail design on SallyHansen.com and you will see "lyndseycamille" by my design. If you would like to recreate my nail design, all you need is three bright contrasting colors, a white nail striper, and a clear top and base coat.

DIY Nails: All About the Houndstooth

I have fallen in love with the houndstooth print and can't wait to start seeing it everywhere in the spring. Whenever I begin to really start loving a print, I always try it out on my nails so I get to wear the print for at least a week. All I needed to do my houndstooth nails were a nail art brush, white nail polish, and a solid color polish. Keep reading for a step-by-step tutorial on how to create your own houndstooth nail design.

Begin by painting all your nails one solid color. I chose a pink color for a more vibrant and springtime feel.
Use a nail art brush dipped in white nail polish and make tow equally spaced stripes going vertically down your nail. Clean your nail art brush afterwards.
Use your nail art brush again, but dip it into your base color nail polish and create two horizontal stripes down the nails. Clean the nail art brush. Now notice the white squares created by the stripes use the nail art brush dipped in white polish to add one short white line to the top right corner of each square. Now add a short white line to the bottom left corner of the square. Lastly, add two small connecting lines to the top left corner of each square. Wait about 10 minutes or longer for the design to draw then add a clear top coat.
*Use the pictures as guidelines and steps for recreating the nail design and remember, you can always make it your own.*

DIY Nails: Holiday Glitter Half Moons

Once again my nails are glittering and shimmering, but with two showstopping colors in a half moon design. This nail look makes me think of a glam holiday, it's so much fun and great to look at while I'm taking my exams! So many different different glitter combos are possible with this nail design, all you need to create the look are two solid  colors and two glitter polishes that are similar in color with the two solids. You will also need a clear base and top coat, nail polish remover, and about 2 Q-tips. Keep on reading for the steps to recreate my nail look.
  1. Begin with clean nails and coat them with a clear basecoat.
  2. Take a solid purple polish and coat from the bottom half of your nail to the middle.
  3. Dip a Q-tip in nail polish remover and with windshield wiper motions, create a half moon of the purple polish.
  4. Take a solid brown polish and paint the nail starting from the edge of the purple half moons to the tips.
  5. Go back with a sparkly purple and with a careful hand apply it on top of the solid purple.
  6. Add a glittery gold on top of the solid brown polish.
  7. Use any color glitter striper and define the half moon.
  8. Let your nails dry, then apply a clear basecoat.
The solid nail polish colors help the nails to stand out and pop on your nails while the glitter gives the overall glam look. Let me know if you decide to try out this nail look in the comments below.

DIY Nails: Glitter Tribal

I love tribal print nails, but everytime I attempted the style I always made one huge mess! However since I will never give up on anything, I tried once again with a much easier version and they actually came out how I wanted. All you need to recreate this nail look is a bright nail polish color and white, black, and glitter nail stripers. Don't forget a clear base and top coat to keep your nails looking great!
  1. Begin with clean nails and coat them with a base coat to prevent polish from staining the nails.
  2. Paint the entire nail with any bright nail polish color. Let it completely dry before moving to the next step.
  3. Take the black striper and make a medium-sized horizontal line across eaach nail. Let it completely dry before moving to the next step.
  4. Take the white striper and make small connecting lines, almost like zigzags.
  5. Now for extra glitz take the glitter striper and make a horizontal line under the black line. Let it completely dry before moving to the next step.
  6. Once all the nail polish is dry, coat every nail with a top coat to prevent chipping. Be sure to let everything dry!
Remember practice makes perfect and be patient when trying out new nail designs. Rock the glitter tribal nails!
