Prom 2014: The Great Gatsby

My school's 2014 prom theme was "Great Gatsby" so of course I had to embody the glamour of the 20's! I went for a finger wave hairstyle complete with a sparkly hair clip. I also wore long black gloves and a feather clutch to match the train of my dress. Overall, I felt amazingly confident in my dress!

My make-up consisted of a subtle, purple-toned smokey eye done by my mother. My finger wave curls were created with a curling iron and pinned together until it was time to go. My hair and make-up lasted all night solely because of make-up primer and holding spray.
My accessories included a fabulous feather clutch, black gloves, a sparkly hair comb, a necklace, earrings, and a corsage. My corsage had a beautiful purple orchid inside and was decorate with black netting, sparkly ribbon, black feathers, and a bejeweled bracelet.
My prom experience was amazing! I am extremely happy I went because I had so much taking pictures, dancing, and admiring all the gorgeous dresses!
Tell me about your prom experience(s) below!

Beauty 101: Glamour Galore

Nina Dobrev
Nina Dobrev is one my favorite beauty inspirations because of her soft look. I love that she goes simple with her hair and make-up, but still stands out. The look above is Nina's Oscars 2013 look which was full of glamour  shimmer, and bold lashes. A look like Nina's is perfect for the upcoming prom season, military balls, and any other special occasions  All you need to recreate the look is foundation,  nude lip color, a bronzer, black eyeliner, silver/grey eyeshadow, black eyeshadow, mascara (optional: false lashes), a highlight color, and a shadow matching your eyebrows.
  1. Being with a clean face and apply foundation and concealer as necessary.
  2. Take the bronzer and couture it into the hollows of your cheeks to your temples. Be sure to couture and blend well.
  3. Apply a highlight to your brow bone and take it all the way down in an outward angle to your crease.
  4. Apply a grey/silver eyeshadow to your lower lids. Blend the color out into your crease.
  5. Take the black shadow and with a light hand blend it into your crease in a "V" shape that creates a slight cat eye. Blend lightly until you achieve your desired amount of shadow.
  6. Take the grey/silver shadow and with an eyeliner brush, sweep against your lower lashline creating a thin line.
  7. Fill in your eyebrows with a matching eyeshadow color in light, short strokes.
  8. Take your eyeliner and create a medium line on your outer lash line , then appley 2-3 coats of mascara and add false lashes if desired.
  9. Apply a nude lipstick or gloss to finish the make-up look.
Nina Dobrev
Now that you have Nina's gorgeous make-up look, her simple ponytail is a must! All you need to recreate her ponytail is a ponytail holder, a brush, bobby pins. and a product that will slick your hair back into the ponytail.
  1. Begin by brush all your hair back into a ponytail at the center of your head. Use the brush to add a bit of a poof in the front.
  2. Secure the ponytail with the ponytail holder. Make sure it is not secured too tightly, but not too loosely.
  3. Use bobby pins to secure any loose hair.
  4. Take a section of the hair from the ponytail and wrap it around the ponytail holder and secure it with a bobby pin.
  5. The hair look is now complete.

Get The Look: Taylor Swift In Glamour Magazine

Taylor Swift looks absolutely adorable, fun, quirky, and glamorous. I love her big hair full of beautiful curls, her dark lashes, bold brows, rosy blush, and red lips. You also can't forget about her classic red mani and outfit full of sparkles and sequins. All you need to recreate this look are mascara, a neutral eyeshadow palette, rosy blush, a red lipstick in a darker shade, and red nail polish. You may also need a curling iron and teasing brush for the hair.
  1. Begin with a clean face and add concealer if necessary. Add foundation if needed as well to give your skin an even tone.
  2. Use a eyeshadow a hit darker than your natural eyebrow color and use short strokes with an angle brush to fill in your brows. A darker shade will define your brows and make your eyes stand out.
  3. Add a bit of brown eyeshadow to your lids and a darker color to your crease. Make your eyeshadow form to a shape that fits your eye best.
  4. Line your tight line with a black eyeliner pencil. Coat your top and bottom lashes with 2-3 coats of mascara.
  5. Put primer on your lips for a nice base, then slowly and smoothly add the lipstick on top. Use a concealer to hide any mistakes or change your lip shape.
  6. Take your blush and brush from the apples of your cheeks to your temples. Be sure to blend.
  7. Take a curling iron and wrap 1 1/2 inch sections around the barrel. Tease the base of the curl and finger comb through for a big, voluminous curl look.
  8. Polish your nails with the red polish for a classic, pretty nails look.
  9. Put on a sparkly or sequined outfit to have the complete look recreated!
