2013 Fashion Trends Review

Selena Gomez
A lot of crunches and ab workouts were done this year all because of the crop top. The midriff-baring crop top was seen all year long, no matter the season. Crop tops came in so many renditions, lace, sweater materials, long and short sleeves, even with a turtleneck!
Ashley Madekwe
Peplum tops made their mark by adding curve and shape to every figure! Peplums were seen as tops and featured in skirts and dresses. Peplums were easily dressed up or dressed down as well. Peplums gave even a simple outfit a does of chicness.
Kylie Jenner
Leather is not a new thing. However, the fashion world was accustomed to only seeing it used in motorcycle jackets, boots, and pants. This year, leather was reinvented. 2013 saw leather a-line skirts, abstract skirts, even leather tops! Also, you can't forget about the array of colors leather was seen in throughout the year.

Zendaya
The sporty chic look was also introduced this year. Sweatpants were no longer seen as a sign of fashion defeat, but as a comfy alternative. Sweatpants were paired with heels, preferably sneaker wedges and strappy heels. Sweatpants came in a variety of styles and colors as well as lots of fun graphic tees and sweatshirts to pair with.

2013 saw so many trends, both good and bad, this year. So of course I was not able to list every single fashion moment. However, above were some of my favorite trends of the year. Let me know about yours in the comments below!

Happy Holidays!

Happy holidays from me to you! I love the holiday season because it is filled with thanks, happiness, and downright holiday cheer. As I've gotten older, I have started to understand the true meanings of the holiday seasons. We must express our love and appreciation for our family, friends, God, and all things in our life. This time of year is not just about shopping, gifts, or good food, but selflessness. Instead of running out to every single sale and 24 hour stores, let's spend time with our love ones and reflect on the greatness in each of our lives. Whether or not you even celebrate the holidays, just take a moment and reflect upon the merriness of the season. Be sure to show your love to everyone, give a compliment, flash a smile, and say I love you to those close to you.

Happy Holidays!

Trend Alert: Fashionable Sweats

Fashionable Sweats
Sweats are making a super chic, and comfy, statement. The "new" sweatpants come in a more fitted form as well as in many different colors, patterns, and prints. These sweatpants can fit into any style or look, girly, edgy, and more! You also don't have to stick with only pairing sweats with sneakers because heels and boots will work too! Plus, you can offset the look by sporting a fancier top to dress up the look. Above are some of my favorite new ways to rock fashionable sweats worn by Forever 21 models.

Will you be rocking fashionable sweats?

Cyber-Monday Haul

My Cyber-Monday items are finally here! I purchased three items from my favorite store, Delia's. I was able to get these three items each for half off plus free shipping! Together, it was only $30, a deal! I was looking for cute tops and fun accessories to add to my winter wardrobe. Below are my purchased items:
This simple graphic tee is filled with color and gives off a slightly sporty vibe. I love to pair this top with a simple pair of jeans and my sneaker wedges for a casual look.
This sweater is super warm and cozy! I love the diamond print and color because it matches with blue jeans, colored jeans, tennis shoes, and boots!
I love these cute and quirky earrings! Gold accessories are my favorite and especially stud-like gold earrings. These earrings will look perfect when I am wearing my hair up or when I just want to wear fun accessories.

Get the Look: Beyonce's ***Flawless Video

Beyonce
Being the Beyonce super-fan I am, I purchased the latest Beyonce album. It is a must have if I do say so myself. After listening to every song and watching every video, I have come to the conclusion that "***Flawless" is my new favorite song. My favorite look from the "***Flawless" video is in the photograph above". I am in love with sultry, edgy make-up and bedhead hair. The look is easily attainable with the use of red lipstick, black eyeliner and mascara, and a curling iron.
  1. Begin with a clean face. Apply foundation and concealer as needed.
  2. Apply eyeliner to the lower lash line. Allow the line to become thicker as it nears the outer corner of the eye.
  3. Apply eyeliner to the top lash line into a winged effect. Be sure to slightly smudge the liner for an edgier look.
  4. Apply 2-3 coats of mascara to the top and bottom lashes.
  5. Apply lipstick to lips.
  6. Clean up any mistakes with a q-tip and make-up remover.
  7. Finish the look by wrapping sections of hair around a curling iron for 10-15 seconds. Then finger-comb the curls. Braiding the hair overnight will also give the same effect.

Fashion 101: Winter Coats and Jackets

Nicole Richie
Make the coat your outfit to stay warm and stylish! I love this classy "coat dress' worn by Nicole Richie. Plus, it is an automatic 2 in 1 look. The coat mimics a button-up style dress that reveals an outfit underneath when removed. This is perfect when you are going in and out of cold weather and still need to be fashionable.

Nicole Richie
Keep it printed! Although a printed jacket may not be practical, it is still cute! Printed coats and jackets are just like accessories, they only add to the look. A printed coat or jacket can also be the main piece of your look or mixed and matched with another print as Nicole Richie's outfit above.

Solange Knowles
Colorblock it! Coats can become so dull and drab when they are just the basic grey or black. Try a coat with an eye-popping color to make the look exciting! Solange's coat is so classic and chic, yet fun just by its fun color hue.

Solange Knowles
Just like Nicole Richie's floral printed jacket, Solange's cheetah print coat is a printed showstopper! Mix it up with color and the prints become even more alive!

What I'm Loving

My Top Product "Loves"
Coconut Lime Breeze Triple Body Moisture Cream keeps my skin extra smooth and smelling great! I mainly use this product on my hands, arms, and feet to ensure they stay soft and smooth all throughout the wintertime.
Dial Exfoliating Body Wash has the best fresh, clean smell ever! Plus, the exfoliating beads help to make your skin smooth and bacteria-free. My skin feels so refreshed after using this product!

Argan oil leave-in conditioner keeps my hair shiny, untangled, and soft for the past month! This product has prevented excessive breaking and dryness that I usually suffer when my new growth starts to come in. I use this product about every other day before bed to make my hair super shiny and manageable in the morning.

Fashion 101: Take Home the Booties!

Take Home the Booties!
Booties are the cutest cold weather! They can even be worn throughout spring depending upon the fabric they're made of. Buckles, laces, and cutouts add so much character and style to an entire look! Plus, you can add colorful and printed socks for extra warmth and chicness. I love seeing booties style with rolled up jeans, tights and skirts, and of course with nice pair of socks. Whether you booties are flats, a high heel, or a lot of bedazzle, booties are definitely a great addition to anyone's shoe collection.

Love Their Style: Sasha and Malia Obama

Sasha loves quirks, edge, and color in her casual looks! Sasha pairs a fun animal graphic sweater with red pants, Doc Martens, and a chic coat and scarf. Sasha is able to keep her look fun with the color and print while adding a chic and practical touch with a her coat and scarf.
Sasha also knows how to dress it up! I love this chic winter look which includes a silver wedge-style oxfords, a striped sweater, a-line skirts, and a nice coat. The look plays with a grey, black, and navy color scheme with a pop of silver color.
You cannot forget about Sasha's older sister, Malia! I love that Malia is not afraid to play with prints. Malia keeps mixing prints simple by pairing a gold and black textured scalloped skirt with a black and white checkered coat. The black in the outfit ties the look together and keeps Malia super chic!

OOTD: What Does the Fox Say?

I love big, cozy sweaters for the winter time! My fox sweater is my absolute favorite sweater and it goes with everything. I can pair it with jeans, colored pants, and any kind of shoes. The color scheme keeps it fun while the animal graphic is a nod to the hit song, "What Does the Fox Say?". In the photos above, I paired my sweaters with medium wash jeans, black combat boots, and minimal accessories. My hair is in loose curls and a braided headband style.

How do you style a big, cozy sweater?

Beauty 101: Selena Gomez Teen Vogue Cover

I am obsessed with Selena's latest Teen Vogue! The entire beauty look is absolutely gorgeous, natural, and beautiful. The tousled hair, bold brows, natural lip color, and mascara'ed eyes are perfect for a quick and easy look. All you need to recreate the look is foundation, a brow pencil, mascara and liner, and earth tone eyeshadows. Follow the steps below to create a quick and natural look inspired by Selena's latest cover:
  1. Use a foundation and concealer to create a smooth, even skintone.
  2. Using light, short strokes, fill in eyebrows and create a more defined brow look.
  3. Apply a highlighter shadow on the brow bone and a dark shadow in the crease. Be sure to blend!
  4. Lightly line the eyelids with liner, then apply 2-3 coats of mascara.
  5. Apply a lip balm to keep lips moisturized.

Fashion 101: For the Love of a Sweater

For the Love of a Sweater

For the Love of a Sweater by lyndseycamille featuring red tops
  1. A big, chunky 80's sweater is a great winter piece. This sweater will keep you warm and add a bit of blast from the past nostalgia. These sweaters pair well with jeans and other pants and even skirts and tights. On top of being a simple and chic top, they will keep you super warm in the cold weather.
  2. Animal sweaters are EVERYWHERE this season! The animal sweater is super cute and adds a cool focal point to the entire look. Plus, you can match your bottoms and accessories to the colors on the animals too create extra pops of color to the look.
  3. A sweater with cute accents and classics prints is always cute! These sweaters work just like normal tops, meaning they are easy to create outfits with.
  4. I love a sweater with a message, whether it's inspirational or sarcastic. These sweaters work well with a basic outfit because the "message" is what sticks out. Just like the cool animal sweaters, you can match your bottoms and accessories with the colors of the message.

Hair 101: Out with the Topknot!

Topknots are such old news! Although topknots are a chic way to keep your hair in place and out of your face, a cool ponytail can also do the trick. Ponytails are also much easier on the hair because they require less pulling, tying down, and pinning. All you need for most ponytail looks are a few ponytail holders, bobby pins, and a brush. Keep on reading to find the perfect ponytail for you!
Nina Dobrev
For a chic and put together ponytail that will work for both casual and more formal occasions, try Nina Dobrev's slick ponytail. You'll want to start off by adding moisture or any type of cream that will keep your hair nice and sleek. Then part a 2-inch section at the top of your hair to create slight "poof". Next, take all the hair and brush it back into a ponytail, the height of the pony is totally up to you. Make sure to secure with a ponytail holder. Before finishing up, take an 1-inch section from the ponytail and wrap it around the ponytail holder.
Selena Gomez
A messy fishtail braid is perfect for casual dates, school, and maybe even a red carpet moment like Selena! This look is perfect for protecting your hair since it involves no intense pulling or tugging on the hair. Just start by brushing all the hair to one side. Let the shorter pieces of hair hang natural and pull out a few extra pieces that fram your face. Create a side ponytail and secure it with a ponytail holder. Then with the remaing hair, begin the fishtail braid. Secure the end of the fishtail with a small ponytail holder. Next, remove the first ponytail holder that was used to create the side ponytail and add a fullness by gently widening sections of the braid. Finish off the look by adding a slight curls to the "undone" pieces with a curling iron.
Bella Thorne
A bubble braid is the epitome of a fun and quirky hairstyle. A bubble braid can help show off your fun earrings, like Bella, or your favorite color by using colorful elastic band. To recreate the look, pull your hair up into a high ponytail. Then being adding elastic bands to the ponytail that are about 1.5 inches apart from one another. After the elastic band are in place, go back and add a fuller look to each section by gently pulling the hair. Don't forget that you can even leave out your bang or pieces of hair to frame your face.

Fashion 101: My Fall Outerwear

My Fall Outerwear

Although I do not own the fabulous jackets above, I do own very similar pieces. The temperature is gradually dropping meaning it's finally time to take out the outerwear. A leather motorcycle jacket is one of my favorties because it works with any look. Its greey/black shades allows it to match with any color and its edge can merge with any style of clothing I decide to wear. The letterman jacket is super cozy and adds a dose of prep into any look. The letterman jacket looks especially nice for a cool or sporty look and helps maintain chicness. The camo jacket is great "trendy" jacket because camo is everywhere this fall! I always love to have at least one statement jacket to add extra oomph to my outfits.
