Trend Alert: Beanie Movement

I don't know if it's just me, but I have seen many people wearing beanies in all different styles, colors, and from various brands. I've never thought of a beanie being a very feminine accessory, but after seeing how different girls style their hair ad outfits I am absolutely in love with them. Many beanies have a little extra fabric in the top so it dangles a bit in the back, or so you can wear it straight up. What's really great are that beanies are a unisex item and are practical since you are keeping your head warm. Not only that, but beanies are such a nice DIY project, you can make your own or buy little embellishments like studs to make it your own. Down below Rita Ora, Nicole Richie, and Rihanna are all incorporating a beanie into their style and making it their own.

Beauty 101: Deep Skin Tone Tips

Keke Palmer
I love my dark skin complexion, I think it is absolutely beautiful an allows me to experiment with different colors, make-up, and more. Many celebrities like Keke Palmer, Nia Long, and Gabrielle Union with darker skin and deeper complexions always seem to have amazing glowing skin that every girl wants to have. Darker skin tones can easily have dark spots from acne, the sun, and many other factors which are not so pretty. As a teenager you will 99.9% experience acne and skin issues which for me have led to dark spots that I am currently working on. Here are some of the tips and tricks that I have been and will be using on my journey to healthy skin:
  • Exfoliate! The dead skin on your face is holding your skin back so try exfoliating 1-2 times a week. Taking off the dead skin makes my face feel so clean and refreshed!
  • Moisturize! Many moisturizers contain SPF which protects my skin from the sun as well as other vitamins and ingredients that help even out skin tone and balance out your skin.
  • Foundation and/or BB Cream! A foundation and/or BB cream will definitely help to even out your skin while also moisturizing and protecting your skin from the sun. They can also give your skin a lovely dewy look.
  • Clinique! My favorite skincare line is Clinique because it helps your skin while making it look naturally beautiful and radiant. Clinique is a brand that does not use too many harsh ingredients in their products.
  • No fragrances! Fragrant bearing products may smell good, but they can dry out your skin which can cause dry, peeling, and scaling skin.
  • Keep your face clean! Overall washing your face and keeping it clean will always help out your skin no matter its tone or type.

Hair 101: Maintaining Curly Q's

Rita Ora
Rita Ora along with other curly haired stars such as Taylor Swift have learned how to control and manage curly manes. I believe in wearing your natural hair texture out a least 50% of the time because whats naturally given to you usually looks best. A good bit of the world population has curly hair wether its loosely coils, lots of spirals, or a complete frizz ball. No matter what type of curly hair you have there are a few tips on how to manage, control, and keep your hair looking healthy and fabulous.
  1. Get a trim every 6 weeks! Curly hair especially needs to be trimmed every 6 weeks because the ends get dry and brittle faster and tend to break off. Scraggly ends are not attractive.
  2. Condition and Moisturize! Be sure to deep condition your curly hair at least twice a month to retain moisture in the hair. Whenever you wash and condition leave a very small amount of conditioner in the hair to stay.
  3. Never towel dry! Never wrap a towel around your hair after you wash and this tip is not just for curly hair. Rubbing a towel against wet hair is the first step to creating a major frizz ball of hair.
  4. Invest in a wide tooth comb! Don't even try brushing curly hair or attempting to comb through it with a small tooth comb. A brush will create frizziness and small comb will get stuck in the hair and do nothing to help detangle.
  5. Try out products specifically for curly hair! Lots of hair product brands are beginning to produce products made specifically for certain hair types which is a major plus for everyone. A product made for curly hair will ony help make your curls look even better.
The bottom line here is that the best thing for curly hair is to keep it moisturized and conditioned because curly hair can get so dry. Remember to get trims every 6 weeks, lay off the heat, and keep the hair detangled. Work your gorgeous curly hair chica!
