Get the Look: Quirky Bun, Natural Make-Up

Zendaya
Zendaya is always adding fun quirks to her everyday style and beauty which makes her looks super fun, young, and very memorable. In the photo above, Zendaya takes a chic slicked backed bun and turns it into a fun swirl, giving an extra va-va-voom! Zendaya keep her make-up light and natural which is perfect for an everyday make-up look and added hoop earring for even more visual interest. To get the look all you need is a brush, bobby pins, and hair tie for the hair and mascara, eyeliner, blush, foundation, and lipgloss for the face.
  1. Start off with your hair by brushing out all the tangles and smoothing down the edges.
  2. Pull the hair up into a high ponytail. Try to make it as sleek and smooth as possible and secure with the hair tie.
  3. Begin twisting the ponytail until it begins to swirl in weird shapes.
  4. When you have achieved your perfect hair swirl, begin pinning down the hair with bobby pins.
  5. Now make sure your skin is clear and apply foundation as needed.
  6. Now apply blush the the apples of the cheeks. Try smiling as you apply the blush for the most natural looking application.
  7. Apply 2-3 coats of mascara and lightly line the top lash line with eyeliner.
  8. Lastly coat the lips with a lipgloss or lipstick for a flush of color on the lips.
Now you have a fun new hairstyle along with a natural make-up look! However, if you want to amp up the look even more, just add hair accessories to the bun, pop some colored liner on the lower eyelid, or even fill in the brows to stay on trend with bold brow look for fall.

Confidence 101: No Makeup, No Worries

Demi Lovato
I believe that being able to go out without any makeup is a key to confidence. It shows that your proud of your natural beauty and know how to embrace it. Plus, even if your the biggest makeup lover your skin needs time to breath and refresh itself which means a day or so without makeup. Also, since it's gradually becoming warmer it's time to slow down on the foundation and other products that will sweat off and go for more natural looks. However, don't take me to literally, I do mean to at least brush/comb your hair and keep your face washed! I challenge my readers to pick one day out of the week to go completely natural and embrace it! (I usually go au naturale on Wednesday just because it's the middle of the week)
How long can you go without makeup?

Beauty 101: Everyday Shimmer Neutrals

Samantha Bark
Eyeshadow can do so much for your eyes, make them pop, appear wider, look smaller, just about anything your brushes can create. However, it is always good to have a go to eyeshadow look instead of going through multiple palettes trying to find the perfect combinations and colors that all work well with one another. Samantha Bark has the perfect neutral eye look with the perfect amount of shimmer that can be worn for formal and everyday occasions. All you need to recreate the look is a neutral eye shadow palette (browns, highlight colors, etc.), mascara, liner, lipgloss, and blush.
  1. Begin with a clean face and apply concealer and foundation as necessary.
  2. Apply a rosy blush to the apples of your cheeks to add a subtle hint of color to your face.
  3. Prime your lids with a primer and a highlight to your brow bone.
  4. Take a brown shadow with a slight shimmer and apply it to your lower lids up to the crease.
  5. Use a darker brown, or black for a more dramatic look, and apply it directly to the crease in a "C" or "V" shape. The softer you apply, the softer the look and the harder will result in a more dramatic blend.
  6. Fill in or brush your eyebrows into shape if needed.
  7. Apply lip gloss or a lipstick to your lips to finish off the look.
What is your go to make-up look?
I love sticking to my BB cream, mascara, and purple eyeliner.

Beauty 101: Ultimate Brow Tips

Ultimate Brow Tips

Brows frame your face and can be the decider of your everyday expression. If your brows are too low you may give off a sad look and too high may have you seeming very surprised. Lately I have been obsessed with keeping my brows natural with a natural arch and filling them in a bit for extra definition. However, maintaining eyebrows in general can be considered a pain, one wrong pluck or too much brow powder can be a total disaster! Keep reading to learn the ultimate tips for brows.

  • Mirror! Of course you need a mirror when you're applying any type of make-up, but especially when dealing with your brows. You're going to want to invest in a magnifying mirror so you can see each individual hair up close whenever you're plucking or waxing your brows.
  • Shape! I recommend sticking with your own brow shape since it naturally fits you, but if you want to change it up be sure to use good judgement based on your eyes and nose shape.
  • Eyebrow Brush and Comb! Whenever you're putting on your make-up or just shaping up your brows, make sure you comb them out. It's similar to brushing your hair before styling, but for your brows.
  • Eyebrow pencil and shadow! Pencil and shadow is the best way to fill in sparse areas of your brows. While using a pencil use short strokes that mimic real eyebrow hairs and an angled brush when using shadow in the same way.Brush out your brows after using pencil and/or shadow and never use long harsh lines.
  •  Brow Gel! Finish off your brows by using brow gel to keep your brows in place all day long. You can also use a tiny bit of Vaseline as an alternative.

Get The Look: Holiday Perfection

Beyonce
Natural beauty is perfect for any holiday occasion, especially Christmas. Whether you're spending the day with your family or attending a Christmas party, you never want to look overdone. I always opt for an eyeshadow palette of neutral colors and try out a look such as Beyonce's beauty look pictured above. Browns, blacks, greys, and dark green eyeshadows look fabulous no matter your eye color and always look good together especially when paired with a nude glossy, mascara, and light foundation.
  1. Begin with a clean face and apply concealer and light foundation as necessary.
  2. Apply a primer to your lids as well as a light brown shadow up to your brow bone as well as next to your tear duct.
  3. Take a dark shimmery green shadow and apply from the middle of your lower lid to the outside in a C-shape. For a glamorous look apply heavily, apply lightly to keep the natural look.
  4. Apply a dark brown shadow and blend it into your crease in a C-shape creating a smokier look.
  5. Apply the same dark brown shadow from step 4 with a eyeliner brush onto your lower lash line.
  6. Add 2-3 coats of lashes to your mascara and a nude gloss to your lips.
Intensify the look by making it smokier or trying a bolder lip color or keep it simple by taking away some of the eyeshadow colors. Let me know in the comments below if you will be trying out this look for the holidays!

Natural Beauty Challenge Week Six

The Natural Beauty Challenge has ended, well kind of. The Natural Beauty Challenge may only be six weeks long, but to maintain healthy skin and hair you have to keep it going. Througout the six weeks my skin has been through ups and downs while my hair has gotten progressively better and better. Now I have a definite skin regimen for day and night, but while I still have break-outs I know how to handle them better. Also, I don't wear make-up everyday which is great for the skin because it has time to breath. I haeve learned how to keep my hair from being tangled and lots of new hairstyles. The flat iron is only used on my hair about once every two weeks! Start the challenge now or tell about how it has helped you!

Natural Beauty Challenge Week Three

The Natural Beauty Challenge is taken a turn for the better for me this week! How has this week been for your hair and skin? My skin is finally agreeing with my new routine of using an acne scrub,  moisturizing, and actually wiping my face throughout the day. I haven't a break-out yet this week or any other unexpected visitors on my face. My hair has gone through major tangling, but it is nothing a good detangling product cannot fix. This week plan for wiping off your face more during the  day by using blotting papers or facial wipes they work wonders for any skin type, especially oily skin. As for the hair, use heat only once this week if you really would like to, but just once. Try out some new styles like the buns Taylor Swift has been rocking or cute braids. Even create your own updo. Have a great natural beauty week!

Hair 101: Natural Curls

Corinne Bailey Rae
Solange Knowles
Esperanza Spalding
I have to share these pictures of beautiful celebrities showing off their natural curls and kinks. I love these hairstyles so much, the thickness and curl patterns just amaze me. The way each womans' natural hair is different makes me remember just how unique each person is in the world, even if it is just hair. Corinne Bailey Rae's curl are all in a more calm and relaxed  rippling state that frames her face very nicely. Solange lets her curls do their own thing, her hair is thick and super glossy. Esperanza Spalding represents natural style and hair tops it off. Esperanza's curls are combed out and big, she even adds a feather to accessorize her hair.  Embracing your natural hair is wonderful even if you do not have a head full of curls, its makes you unique and beautiful!

Natural Beauty Challenge Week Two

How are is your Natural Beauty Challenge going? Are skin is now becoming cleaner and healthier now that we are beginning to wash are face and moisturize. Our hair is should also be appearing healthier and have more bounce. Throughout the week my skin has gone through a break out, I couldn't believe it! After all my face washing and cleansing my face was not doing what I expected. Since I know I was actually was sticking to my plan, I'm just going to blame it on being a teenager. One huge accomplishment for my Natural Beauty Challenge is that I went and had my hair relaxed and trimmed. After my relaxer and trim I finally got to see how much my hair has grown, it's touching my back now! Now I know that technically isn't long for some people, but my hair has never been this length before or this healthy, I am so excited! Now on to week two, we should start daily routines and find a good skin care and make-up products that do not damage our skin. As for our hair we should start moisturizing, conditioning, and continue laying off the heat.

Natural Beauty Challenge Week One

And the Natural Beauty Challenge begins! Week One will consist of keeping clean and starting slow. Make sure to wash your face in the mornings and when you are getting ready for bed, if you play sports or have oily skin you may need splash your face with water in the afternoon as well. Be sure to use warm water and not scrub the face, but gently rub it with your fingers or a soft facial cloth. You can also add in a good facial soap, but be sure it is a soap specifically for your face. Using warm water on acne spots will also help for acne to go away and open up pores so they can breath . When you are done, splash cold water on your face to help close back your pores so bacteria and dirt will not seep back through. As for our hair make sure ot keep it moisturized and get the split and dead ends trimmed or cut off now. Trimming off dead and split ends will instantly make your grow better and look instantly more healthy. Join the Natural Beauty Challenge chicas to start looking your personal best!

Confidence Booster #3

Be fearless! Just for one day, weekend, or even an entire week take risks. Sometimes confidence is about doing the unexpected or trying something new. It doesn't just have to be a new fashion or beauty risk, but anything from rock climbing to taking crazy asking your crush to hang out. Confidence has many different sides to it and for some girls trying new things is a part! You don't even need to do anything too crazy, if your still scared or on the shy side, try reading out loud in class or telling a new joke at the lunch table. Risks are differet for everbody and so is the meaning of confidence. Whatever works for you, go for it chica. Boost up your confidence!

DIY Beautiful and Healthy Nails

We don't always have time to polish our nails and do killer manicures so its good to keep our natural nails looking nice. Usually ladies have problems with stained, broken, and/or peeling nails, none of those are very attractive. To treat stained nails I suggest wiping your nails with any type of lemon juice ora lemon in general and to avoid staining your nails again make sure to always start off with a clear basecoat before polishing your nails. Also, some nails or not stained, they are just discolored which most likely is the result of your body telling you that you have a vitamin deficiency. The nest tips for breaking and peeling nails is to let your nails be free! No polishing, fake nails, or nail polish remover needs to be used on your nail for a good bit. The only product that would be best to use is a nail strengthening serum or a nail ridge filler, anything that serves to help your nail. Hopefully these tips will help your natural nails to be beautiful and healthy.

Beauty Tip #2

Let your natural beauty shine through chicas! We all love to go crazy with eyeliner, shadow, and mascara, but we must let our natural features do their job. If you have pretty eyes instead of piling on bright eyeshadows ty accentuating your eye color instead. If you have  high cheekbones add only a little blush and leave everywhere else very minimal which will really make your cheeks noticable. Instead of covering up what makes us unique and beautiful, accenuate and show off with minimal make-up...... but it is fun to go a little extreme sometimes ;)
