Books to Read: L.A. Candy

Lauren Conrad
L.A. Candy by Lauren Conrad is my current favorite book and I'm not even done reading it yet! I know the book and the following books in its series have been oiut forr some time now, but I just had a chance to start reading what I want now.  L.A. Candy is about two girls, Jane and Scarlet, who move out to Los Angeles to pursue a new lifestyle and dreams. Of course something amazing has to happpen to the girls which is a chance to be reality stars and who knows what's going to happen next! At the moment I am on the rising action part of the book and I don't want to reveal too much except that the girl's friendships seems to be slowly fading away and the cameras come a lot more. This book is so fun to read and a great read for anyone who likes girly books that featureas friendship, boys/dating, reality tv, and a crazy schedule job/school. Also, the book does have cursing, not a lot, but the swearing words could be considered harsh. I recommend that you might need to b at least 13 years or older to understand the concepts and what's going on in the book.

I am planning to do updates as I read the rest of L.A. Candy as well as the otheer books in the series. Have you read L.A. Candy or any other books written by Lauren Conrad?

Must Have Friday: So Much Edge

So Much Edge

Miley Cyrus has been rocking such edgy and cool outfits and I am loving each one! My must haves are completely based off of Miley along with what I really would like to wear. O f course I had to include a kickin' pair of Converse, crop tops, and denim. I even included a pair of Jeffrey Campbell Litas. I also added a pair of retro cat eye sunglasses, i ahve always admired that shape of glasses and wanted to try out a pair. My must haves and the styles I have been leaning towards are continuously being edgy, cool, and not exactly my usual, but I'm likeing it!

What is your style of the moment? What are your must haves?

Hair 101: French Braid To Bun

Photo credit to LuxyHair on Youtube
The bun hairstyle is so popular now, but there is a time when it needs a little spin! The french braid up to a bun is so beautiful and can actually begin from the side, front, or wherever your heart desires. This hairstyle may look better if you have someone else french braid the hair and if you use the "sock bun" method for the bun.

  1. Begin with your hair detangled and a part seperating 1/4 of the back of your hair from the front.
  2. Tie the front of your hair away and begin french braiding the back. Secure the braid with 2-3 bobby pins.
  3. Bring back the front of your hair as well as the back and pull it into a ponytail.
  4. Create the bun by wrapping your hair in a circle or use the "sock bun" method.
  • If you don't know how to french braid or just don't have the time instead of french braiding, just braid a big sectionn of hair and clip it into the bun.
Wear this look to give a new element to your a bun. A lovely pair of studs or even big, dangly earrings go perfectly with this hairstyle. You can even go more dramatic with your make-up and add special clips in your hair.

Get The Look: Sparkly Nude

Megan Fox

A sparkly nude make-up look is extremely gorgeous and enhances your natural features. The sparkles help to illuminate your features and give a goddess-like look. Megan Fox definitely wears the beauty look well and it can even be a daytime look if the falsies were taken away. All you need to recreate the look is a dewy foundation, nude lipstick and gloss, broner, a light shimmer shadow as well as a light brown shimmer shadow and black mascara and liner.
  1. Begin with a clean face and apply concealer to any needed areas. Apply foundation as well to even out your skintone.
  2. Take your bronzer, make the "fishy face", and apply within the hollows your face makes to a little bit above your temples. Brush a small amount of bronzer along the top of your nose and chin. Don't go overboard and remember to blend!
  3. Prime your eyelids with primer. Use your light shimmer shadow on your lid up to the crease as well as on your inner corner.
  4. Take your light brown shimmer shadow and brush it into your crease and fade it out to your brow bone. Blend it out on the brow bone with the light shimmer shadow.
  5. Use your liner to create a thick line on the outside of your lash line. Coat your lashes with 2-3 coats of mascara. Add false lashes for a more dramatic look.
  6. Fill in your brows with a shadow or pencil by using light strokes for a more defined look.
  7. Take your nude lipstick and apply it to your lips. Add lipgloss on top for a shimmery look.
  8. Use a powder to eliminate too much shine.
If your suffer from fall out, put tape or a napkin under your eyes to catch the falling shadow! Remember practice makes perfect and to be patient when trying out new make-up looks. Try changing some steps to make it your own. Rock the look by day with less eyeliner and mascara and by night with dramatic falsies. Rock it out!

Hair 101: Transform Long Hair

Long hair can often start to appear boring and dull, especially dark long hair. However, Hailee Steinfield seems to have the secret of how to keep long hair looking shiny, bouncy, and the perfect styles.  Keep reading for tips on transforming long hair!

Pulled Back
The pulled back look works great if you want your hair out your face and still look chic. A pulled back do' can work with the front being slicked back or pumped up with volume, there are so many options! I especially love a pulled back hairstyle with a beautiful clip in the back and braid accent.
Fancy Bun
A bun always looks nice and especially on long hair because the bun will be even bigger and more filled out. A bun works for both formal and casual occassions and can even be accessorized with small clips. To get a bun similar to Hailee's, pull your hair into a ponytail and braid it. After braiding wrap your hair around into a bun and lightly pull the braid until it is loose. Use bobby pins to place your hair exactly where you want it.

Side Braid
A side braid, side ponytail, or even just side swep hair can do wonders! It is a great change because it can help show off your face and add detail. The most trendy side hairstyle look would have to be the messy sidee fishtail. A fishtail braid in general is very unique and a little bit of messy gives it personality. Find out how to do a fishtail braid here.

The best way to keep long hair flowing and gorgeous is to add layers so your hair is more dimesional. Also, if your not afraid of color, adding in a few highlights and lowlights give your hair a more luscious look. Remember to keep your hair glossy, not greasy, by using a shine serum or shine spray.

How do you maintain your long hair?

Get The Look: Colorful and Classy

Dianna Argon

Dianna Argon looks likee she stepped right out of a magazine! Dianna's look is perfect from head to toe and screams fashion. The use of color, minimal accessories and make-up keep the look chic and classy which is perfect for a formal event during the summertime. A dress with color and design is great for summer and works well if you want to recreate this look. Any design can be made to work as long as you wear it confidently and keep the accessories minimal. A belted a-line dress will help to get the exact style while also adding a lovely curve and shape to your body. A pair of sandal heels will be the most heat appropriate as well as keeping the shoes a neutral color so they will not comepte with the dress. A pair of sunglasses with color will add a bit of emphasis to the look, but the oomph power could also be used withing a clutch or bag. As for beauty, pulled back hair, a glossy nude lip, and mascara-coated lashes will look gorgeous while still staying natural.

How do you stay colorful and classy?

Fashion 101: A Flowing Chrissy Teigen

Look #1
Chrissy Teigen Clothes
Look #2
Flowing and loose outfits are becoming an everyday look that can be dressed up or dressed down. The look is great for the summer days because although you may be wearing long pants or sleeves, the fabric is wide enough that the air breezes right through. Chrissy Teigen,  a gorgeous model, rocks the flowy look both casually and dressed up. Look #1 is great for a day out and can even transition into a night look with the right make-up and accessories. The white tank is loose which gives off a cool vibe while the belted wide leg jeans give her back her shape. The jeans can easily be changed to shorts if it is too hot. Look #2 is bold because of the sheer sleeved blazer sky blue pants. The silkiness and color of the pants give off a fun vibe while the blazer keeps it polished. Whenever wearing a flowy look try not to wear chunky jewelry, but more subtle pieces so there is no overpowering. The best hair is wavy and carefree so the whole look moves together.

Are you trying out the loose and flowy look?

Must Have Friday: Bags and Shades

Must Haves

ASOS knapsack bag, $46
Marc Jacobs zippered tote bag, $1,622
Marc by Marc Jacobs aviator sunglasses, $98
Stella mccartney sunglasses, $225

This week I havev discoveredd the need of a medium sized bag for the summertime. Although I no longer have a need of carrying pens, pencils, and paper, I still need sunglasses, sunscreen, and my phone. A medium sized bag will still be able to fit everyting I need without feeling like I'm carrying a suitcase. I am especially loving the ASOS knapsack beacuse of the beautiful mustard collar and brown accents. Sunglasses are always a must for the summer because the sun does not need to be interering with your eyesight. I am really into aviator style shades as well as shades will subtle and chic detailing.

Hair 101: Pump Up The Volume

Chloe Moretz
Chloe Moretz's hair stood out to me as I browsed through numerous pictures. Her hair is pumped up with volume without being extremely high or seeming "untouchable". After spending many seconds awing at her hair, I thought about all the things to do to make my own hair full of body and instantly full and thick. I know it's not possible to grow extra strands within minutes, but these are tips that can help you fake it 'til you make it!
  1. Keratin-enriched products! A keratin enriched product will help your strands to become stronger and make each strand larger. Keratin is basically a protein and is great to use to keep your hair healthy.
  2. Volumizing products! A volumizing mousse or hairspray will almost always help add extra height and thickness to the hair, however sometimes they leave the hair hard or sticky so be sure not to use too much
  3. Blowdry upside down! This may seem out there, but blowdrying your hair upside down can help add extra volume and body to your hair.
  4. A headband! A thick headband, such as the one seen on Chloe Moretz, gives off an illusion of hair with more volume height, especially when its a dark or bold color.
  5. A bumpet! Contraptions that you stick in your hair may get bad reps at times, but with the right size and application, they actually can work!

How To Wear: Printed Shorts

Olivia Palmero

Whitney Port
Printed and patterned shorts are all over the racks in stores! They are super cute, trendy, and BOLD, but they can still be easily incorporated into your wardrobe. Mixing prints creates contrast and visual appeal which makes it a head turner. The only issuse is going overboard, but that can be easily prevented! The prints can be totally different, but each piece needs to have a similar color. Olivia Palmero used a blue and white color scheme between her top and shorts which prevented the look from being too much, Whitney Port kept her top and shorts in sync because they both share white and black colors, the shorts are working as pops of color and pattern. Printed shorts are working way into every fashionista's closet, but if you're still a little afraid, be sure to check out colored shorts!

How are you working printed shorts this summer?

Get The Look: Smokes and Roses

Cassie Ventura
Cassie's make-up looks are always gorgeous and suit her well. Cassie is seen wearing a nude, glosst lip in almost all her beauty looks along with long thick lashes. Not only is Cassie daring with her make-up, she also bold with hair because she has one side shaved and the other long and luscious. To recreate the look pull your hair into a side ponytail and add loose curls to the bottom. For the make-up, all you need is a rosy blush, nude gloss, black eyeshadow, golden shadow, a highlight, black liner, and mascara.
  1. Begin with a clean face and conceal any needed areas. Use foundation to even out skin tone and smoothness.
  2.  Brush your eyebrows and add primer all over the lids.
  3. Take the golden shadow and apply it all over your lower eyelid.
  4. Take the black shadow and apply in a C-shape into your crease. Brush the shadow out into a fading point. *Use a dark brown shadow for a daytime look!
  5. Apply your highlight starting at the browbone and blend it to the beginning of the crease line.

Summer Series: Vacay Packing

Emma Roberts
I don't know about you, but I'm going on vacay, woo-hoo! Dreaming of vacation and all the things you plan to do is alway fun, but the not so fun part is packing. Not matter what it is a hassle deciding what and what not to bring, especially since it's not good to carry thousands of bags. Of course you need the basics such as toothbrush/paste, undies, pj's, etc., but how much "other" stuff do you need? Here's some tips about figuring out exactly what to bring.
  1. Create Outfits! Putting together outfits before hand help to lighten the load and keep your bags organized. It's okay to bring more tops than bottoms, but make sure there are mix and match outfits between everything.
  2. 2 Go To Shoes! Bring a pair of tennis shoes and a pair of sandals as essentials. If you must brings heels or flip flops to go to the beach, bring them! Just remember sandals are always comfty and tennis shoes are good in all types of situations.
  3. Inexpensive jewelry! Never bring expensive jewelry, tour favorite jewelry, or anyting that will get you bent out of shape if you lose it. Try bringing neutral accessories that go with anything in a box so they will all stay together.
  4. Make-up bag! Only bring your must have make-up, not your whole collection. All you need if you must wear make-up is mascara, lip gloss/chapstick, and foundation.
  5. A small purse! A small purse is best for vacation, it can carry your money and personal items. A big bag contains too many things and only weighs you down.
What are you packing in your suitcase? Do you have any tips?

Must Haves: Swim Wear

Must Haves: Swim Wear

It's heating up which means it's time for beach wear! My must haves consist of bandeau swimsuits, beach bags, and of course, beach balls! A little secret I have is that I never have liked wearing revealing bathing suits, but this year I decided to take a risk and try out a bandeau type suit. Although I have not found the perfect suit to fit my bust and not wrap around my body a million times, I still have hope! Places like Target, Walmart, Pacsun, etc. all sell a variety of suits, it's all about getting the right size. Beach bags are a must for all summer long, they can hold everything from magazines, books, sunglasses, a towel, anything. Also, a beach ball is on my must haves because they are so fun to just bounce around and have loads of fun playing games with!

Outfit Of The Day: Summer Florals

Floral jeans and a denim button up are staple items in my wardrobe right now. They can both be worn seperately with a completely different look, or in this summery casual look I am wearing above. This outfit is perfect for a day that is not extremely hot, but it is still very warm. It is also very casual while still being a bit daring and super trendy!

I always toggle between wearing my denim button up down or crop it up by tying it in the front. Either way works for the look , but for chose to tie it up to give a fun, carefree vibe. I paired a purple cami underneath to bring out the purple and pink flowers in my floral jeans.

My shoes are just everyday flats that sparkle in silver glitter! As you may have figured out, these are the same skinny jeans I wore in an earlier OOTD post, I just rolled them up to make them more heat appropriate. My jewlery consists of my favorite Betsey Johnson boyfriend watch, a flower ring, and a butterfly ring. Can you see my nails sporting the butterfly design as well?

If you would like to know where any of the items I am wearing are from just comment below!

How To Wear: High Waisted Shorts

Emma Roberts
Selena Gomez
Miley Cyrus
High waisted shorts are a HOT trend for summer and now that they have become so popular it is hard to make them stand out. The shorts are becoming more and more popilar because they throw a retro twist onto what has become the new modern "short shorts". High waisted shorts work for just about anyone and give the body a small waist and an hourglass shape. Emma Roberts gives high waisted shorts a girly chic look by pairing them with a sheer, flowy blouse and black peep toe heels. Adding girly touches like the sheer blouse and a nice handbag make a pair of denim shorts into an amazing outfit. Selena Gomez takes high waisted shorts into a summer-y vibe by wearing them in a starfish print with a midriff bearing top. The nude heels lengthen her legs and although the look is bold and daring, Selena is still rocking the look with confidence! Miley Cyrus goes hipster and casual with the look by taking a loose rock tee and tucking it into her short. The flats, jean jacket, and round sunglasses give the look fashion power!

Are you sporting high waisted shorts this summer?

DIY Nails: Butterfly Wings

Butterflies are such beautiful, interesting creatures. They are so inspiring and they had to be used in some type of artwork which just happened to be on my nails. I actually saw a picture of a butterfly nail design and I just had to recreate it with my own twist! All you need for this nail design is a bright nail polish color such as the pink, black nail polish as well as a black nail striper, and white polish. You also need a dotting tool or a tooth pick.
  1. Begin with clean nails and coat them with a clear base coat. This will help your nail polish show up more vibrant and stay on longer.
  2. Coat your entire nails with a bright nail polish of your choice. Use about 1-2 coats.
  3. Take your black nail polish or striper and paint a small section on the side of each nail.
  4. Continue the line across the tip of your nail in a diagnol line.
  5. Take your nail striper and draw a diagnol line from the bottom corner to the top corner of your nail.
  6. Draw 3 slighty curved lines conntecting your original black lines. Let the nails dry.
  7. Take a dotting tool or tooth pick and put polka dots across the tips and side of your nails. Let the nails dry.
  8. After your nails have dried, coat them with a clear top coat and continue to let them dry.
This nail tutorial is actually very easy to recreate and requires very few materials. Remember to be patient and practice makes perfect when trying out new nail designs. Be sure to show off your lovely mani!

Fashion 101: Bold and Fab

Kat Graham
I am always looking at pictures of Kat Graham because she is super daring with all her looks and doesn't care if everybody is not a fan of her style. Kat's outfit and beauty look for the 2012 MTV Movie Awards was extremely beautiful to me and showcased her best features. It is totally bold and fab! Kat slicked back her hair and used minimal make-up which let her outfit and accessories take center stage. Sometimes it is okay to let your outfit be the big bang of a look because it still makes heads turn. Since the dress has a slit it shows off her fab legs and the earrings make you look straight at her face. Recreate the same concept in your very own look by toning down your beauty and hair look and putting on a bold outfit that shows off!

Summer Series: Hot Hair

Lauren Conrad
Ashley Benson

Shailene Woodley Ties Her Long Hair Back Into This Super High Chic Bun
Shailene Woodley
Summer gets extremely hot and sometimes it's too much to have long locks hitting against your body. Summer is also the best time to try out new styles, especially for your hair. I love how Lauren Conrad keeps her long locks all year round and is always finding new ways to spice it up. Lauren's hairstyle above is very easy to do and gets your hair out of your face. You can either french braid a section of hair backwards or simply just braid two sections and clip them back. So simple! Ashley Benson took a major chop of her long wavy hair and it is super edgy, just what she is going for. The natural wavy hair and messy aspect is the best part of her new 'do.  Short hair can be very versatile just like long hair because it can still be curled, braided, pinned, anything! It also prevents you from being even more overheated! Lastly Shailene Woodley goes trendy by pulling her hair up into a high bun that can either be messy or slick, whatever look your going for! A bun is very versatile because it can work for both formal and casual occassion and also helps when your in the process of growing out your hair.

What is your go to hairstyle for summer?

Beauty 101: Lovely Lips

Kate Bosworth
Lip color is all the rage for summerand lovely lippies can make your entire beauty look pop! I love Kate Bosworth soft, but bold pink lip color. Her lip color comes off as more as a glossy color because it is not too matte and has just the right amount of shimmer. Try to find a nice lip color that has shimmer in it since it is summer and nothing should be too matte or dull. Lip glosses with major tint and pigmentation are great to use because they are easy to reapply and stay on for a good amount of time. The best colors to try are pinks, purples, and reds of any shade r tone that fit your skin tone well. You may end up purchasing more than one to get the color just right, it's all about experimenting sometimes! A big tip is that if a color doesn't work, try blotting the color or pairing another color on top. Remember, if your lips aren't in tip top shape, use chapstick or the toothbrush method to exfoliate and brush away dead parts of your lips.

What's your go to lip color?

Must Have Friday: Casual Fun

Must Have: Casual Fun

This outfit is totally me, I love color and print which is incorporated through the shorts, shoes, and jewelry. I am also really into denim tops and the collar feature is super trendy. I decided to take this look into two different styles, girly and edgy, to show how versatile a look can be. All you need is a change of shoe and/or accessory, you can even mix the two different styles by mixing and matching the accessory and shoe styles! This look is also super comfty and perfect for a casual day when the weather is nice and warm. Try rocking this look with any denim top and colored pair of shorts. Add in your own must have shoes and accessories!

Fashion 101: Pops of Color

Rachel Bilson
Rachel Bilson's outfit is the perfect example of ways to add in a pop of color! Pops of color are used when your outfit seems too dark or has too much of one color. A pop of color is exciting and gives your look more personality and head turning power! The best places to add a pop of color is with a shoe, purse, accessory, or even in the shirt or bottoms. Other simple places to add a pop of color could also be with your nail polish or make-up. I love how Rachel Bilson incorporated two pops of color in two neons, it is absolutely fab! Rachel shoes are fierce, the yellow is a little too muted to be considered neon, but they still are bright against the black pants. The bright blue shirt brightens up Rachel as well as the room. I especially love the overall flowiness of the top and the nice ease it gives off.

How do you add pops of color?

Get The Look: Print Crazy

Whitney Port
Whitney Port completely shocked me in this colorful cool outfit, I love it! The mix of print totally works because her pants are jungle themed which means cheetah print shoes go perfecctly. The denim top adds a coolness to the look and the collar gives a trendy vibe. Also, her bright red bag is summer perfection and brings out the red in the pants. Whitney's hair is gorgeous while still being simple since she brushed all hair into a big feminine side braid.

Recreate this look by trying out a pair of jeans with a print such as flowers or even jungle printed like Whitney. Next pull out a pair of shoes that are associated with he print of the jeans wether its the color or pattern. If your scared of too much print, just go for a solid colored or a neutral shoe. Add a denim top or just a regular button down for the top. Make sure the top has a collaryour look to be just like Whitney's, plus it would add a more fashion forward vibe. A bright colored bag will be a great addition to your inspired look as well as a soft, flowy feminine hairdo like the side braid.

Whitney's look is a head turner and showstopper, in a good way of course! Wear this look out for a day out shopping, to the movies, or wherever, just make sure you wear it with confidence!

Fashion 101: The Peplum

Beyonce
Kourtney Kardashian

Emma Stone
Peplum style skirts and dresses are so unique and help form and define curves. I love the peplum style, it reminds me of a bit of a tutu mixed with lots of chic! A peplum is basically just a sort of frill added in the waist section of a skirt of dress. I recommend that for anyone wanting to show off their waist or create a smaller waist to try out a peplum style. Beyonce's peplum begins exactly at the waist and is continued by a pencil bottom.Beyonce's peplum helps to show off her flat abs as well as her small waist because the rest of the dress is tight. Kourtney Kardashian wears her peplum in the style of a mini dress accented by a cute zipper. Just like Beyonce's peplum, Kourtney's begins right at the waist giving her a nice curve and small waist. The color of the dress is lovely and the snake skin clutch is perfect! Emma Stone's peplum is a bit weird since the fabric is bubbled up and sticking outward from her body. However, the color scheme is great! Be sure when purchasing a peplum style that the fabric is not to thick and that it is goin around your body equally. A peplum should be flattering!

Are you trying out the peplum style?

Must Have Friday: Edgy Chic

Must Haves

I have been seeing all these edgy looks like spikey bracelets and high waisted shorts everywhere! I am really into Jeffrey Campbell shoes because of their unique shape and look, I can't wait to be able to actually own a pair! High waisted shorts are another one of my faves especially since you can make them at home and even add studs. The spiked bracelet looks great as arm candy and is a great visual acccessory. The make-up pallete has gorgeous colors which will look great for the summertime.

What are your musht haves?
